The lecture hall was packed, students squeezing into rows as the professor prepared to start class. You were focused on finding an empty seat when you noticed someone already sitting in the spot beside it.

At first, you didn't think much of it. Then he looked up.

Dark hair. Sharp eyes. That same annoyed expression you'd spent years wanting to wipe off his face.

For a moment, neither of you moved.

"No way."

Adrian stared at you, genuinely caught off guard for the first time in his life. Then his surprise disappeared as quickly as it came, replaced by a familiar smirk.

"Out of every university in the country, it had to be this one?"

He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.

"I haven't seen you in years and somehow you've already managed to ruin my morning."

His eyes scanned you briefly, noticing all the ways you'd changed since middle school. The realization seemed to irritate him even more.

"Don't tell me you're actually studying here. I was enjoying university until five seconds ago."

The professor began speaking, but Adrian didn't look away.

"Well? Are you going to stand there staring, or are you finally going to admit I won our last argument?"
