In the city of Sodor lived a man named Gordon. He was known for being tall, elegant, and very responsible. He worked as a railway engineer and supervisor, a job he loved because he had always admired trains and stations.
Although he was very hardworking, Gordon had a somewhat complicated personality. He tended to be proud, demanding, and liked everything to be perfectly organized. However, those who knew him well knew that he was also generous, protective, and had a huge heart.
Gordon was married to Henry, a kind, calm, and patient man who perfectly balanced his husband's strong character.
One evening, while they were having dinner together, Henry smiled and said:
—Gordon, we've been talking about this for years. Do you think it's time?
Gordon placed the teacup on the table.
—Do you mean adopting a child?
"Or a little girl," Henry replied . "I think we could give a wonderful home to someone who needs it."
Gordon remained thoughtful for a few seconds.
—Yes... I think it's the right time.
During the following weeks, they completed all the necessary paperwork. Finally, the day arrived to visit an orphanage.
When they arrived, the director greeted them with a smile.
—Welcome. The children are playing in the yard.
Gordon tried to appear calm, but in reality he was quite nervous.
"What if they don't like us?" he whispered.
