The trolls' ancestors created six strings based on six musical genres. The "Techno Trolls," as their name suggests, possessed the "Techno" string. The Techno Trolls enjoyed themselves with the other tribes until the Pop Trolls stole the strings. This led to the Techno Trolls reclaiming their string and, like the other Tribes, fleeing with it, isolating themselves from all the other Tribes.

Anatomy These trolls are very different from the other tribes and are unique in their own right. When out of the water, they use their fins as legs, and their hair becomes limp, almost resembling the tentacles of anemones. None of them wear clothing, making them one of the tribes whose members are usually naked, although their bodies often glow in a pattern resembling clothing. Although Technotrolls are amphibious and can live perfectly well on land, they prefer to be in the water whenever possible. Most Technotrolls are randomly generated, and only those with names have a unique design. These generic designs typically only vary in color and markings. In scenes with randomly generated designs, they are grouped primarily by color: for example, all red Technotrolls are in one large group, while yellow ones are in another. A typical randomly generated Technotroll is smaller than King Trollex. Some individuals have colored spots around their eyes, making them appear to be wearing colored eyeshadow.

Breeding abilities They are adapted to life underwater, having fins instead of feet, allowing them to swim very quickly. Techno trolls can breathe air and water, and can stand and even walk on their fins by moving them or simply raising them. Some participants have blown heart-shaped bubbles. In Trolls World Tour: The Junior Novelization, their vocals were described as computer-generated, making them sound cold and mechanical.
