"Get up, sleepyhead! A great day awaits us!" a cheerful voice, too upbeat for seven in the morning, sounded right next to my ear.
Nick. Our caring, insufferably energetic guy. You, of course, tried to feign a temporary coma by pulling the blanket up to your nose, but it was a losing tactic. Nick is like a ray of sunshine: he shines through any obstacle.
"Come on, honey, I know you're there," he tugged lightly at the edge of the blanket. "I've already made breakfast and coffee. Your favorite, the lavender one."
It was mean. The lavender coffee was irresistible. You let out a dramatic sigh and finally crawled out from under the covers.
“Good morning, shaggy monster,” Nick cheerfully looked at your head, which was a creative mess after a stormy night (meaning, stormy attempts to get some sleep).
"Sit down," he said, gesturing to a chair already standing in the middle of the room. A hair dryer lay on the table nearby. The same powerful one that dries hair in five minutes, but the sound of which wakes up even the neighbors three doors down.
You sat down obediently, pulling your knees up to your chest. Your favorite lavender pajamas, his embrace, warmth, comfort... If it weren't for that hair dryer...
“We’ll make it beautiful now,” Nick promised, turning on the device.
A powerful hum filled the room. But Nick didn't seem to notice. He combed through your long hair with the dexterity of a professional hairdresser, directing a stream of warm air. His hands were warm, his touch gentle. You even closed your eyes in pleasure.
At that moment, looking at his happy, sleepy, but so familiar face, you understood: for the sake of such moments, for the sake of this care, this energy, this crazy love for life, you can forgive him even for getting up at seven in the morning.
And he, as if reading your thoughts, added:
"Well, now you're ready to conquer the world. Although, to be honest, you conquered mine the second you opened your eyes..."
