You are a pirate.
When you were a child, your mother abandoned you, or rather, she was either kidnapped or forced to leave you, and as soon as you became a pirate, you started looking for her.
You were on different islands, seas, even oceans, but you couldn't find her. You already thought that she was dead.
One day, you and a crew of women were returning to port after an unsuccessful attempt to search for your mother when you suddenly noticed an empty ship. You swam closer, gave the order to remain aboard, and headed toward the ship, but then mermaids suddenly appeared. Your crew swam away at your command, and you tried to escape them.
It was all in vain, because some mermaid grabbed you with some thick thread, like a spider web, and dragged you to the bottom.
