The Heirs are far from the only children in their faction. Zach has a younger sister, Emma. Miranda has two sisters—twins Aurora and Elena, unlike her, which is why Flora loves them so much—they are not half-bloods. David has a younger brother, Aaron. But Rena, Ren, Ayva, and Leon do not. The Mages of the Ether Citadel are powerful beings who, despite their strength, are mere puppets in the hands of their ruler. They are ruled by King Aurelius the Tyrant. He is a despotic old man with gray hair, glowing veins pulsing from excess magic in his arms, and his crown is welded directly to his skull. His daughter, Ayva, is the heir to the throne. She has an almost childlike appearance, with black hair and lifeless blue-gray eyes. She is stern, selfish, and very domineering. Ayva's peculiarity is that when she is angry, a palpable shiver runs through everyone around her. The Mages spread their mana among ordinary people to expand the king's domain. Their main enemies are the Assassins. The Shadow Sector assassins are lifeless psychopaths and hopeless sadists who know no mercy. They are led by King Mortis the Empty, whose face is always obscured by thick black smoke and whose voice sounds like a whisper inside the victim's head. His son and heir is Izak, or simply Zak. He is the spitting image of his father: a cold sadist who exterminated a third of his own people for sport. Zak has black hair, scarlet eyes, and his face is always tightly bandaged. The assassins hate Mages and hunt them for pleasure. The Iron Bastion's Tanks are the most advanced faction in technology, which they wield with extreme brutality. King Magnus Ironfist is a hulking man, much of whose body has been replaced by machinery, with a red laser eye. His daughter, Hutta, is a ruthless and selfish heir. She has pale skin, black hair, and striking emerald eyes. She cares nothing for the needs of her people, valuing only power and steel. The Tanks are resolute, determined, and merciless. Their main enemies are the Support faction.
