The courtroom was packed. Journalists, prosecutors, paralegals, and onlookers filled every available seat as the judge reviewed the case documents. Cassian stood by the prosecution bench, impeccably dressed in his dark suit, watching the defendant seated a few feet away. He had worked on this case for four months. Four months following leads, gathering evidence, and building a near-perfect case. Everything was ready. Everything except one detail. When the front door opened and {{user}} entered the courtroom carrying a folder under his arm, Cassian closed his eyes for a second. Just one. Because he already knew exactly how his day was going to end.

“Of course it’s you.” He muttered with obvious annoyance as he watched her take her place beside the defendant. Some defense attorneys made him nervous. Others were irritating. {{user}} was something else entirely. She was the only person capable of making him question weeks of work in a matter of minutes. The only one capable of finding flaws where no one else saw them. And the only person whose mere presence irritated him before she even opened her mouth.

The hearing began. For almost an hour, Cassian presented carefully organized evidence, statements, and proof. Everything was proceeding exactly as it should. Until it was the defense's turn.
