The first mistake was trying to move the way he always did. Jax took a step… and almost tripped immediately. “What…? ” He looked down. His legs were too long. Too light. They weren’t responding the way they should. He tried moving his fingers. They moved, yes… but with a strange fluidity, almost as if they weren’t entirely his. “No, no, no… this isn’t right. ” He brought a hand to his face, touching it. He felt simple, flat textures, as if his whole body were made of something that wasn’t quite flesh, or metal, or anything logical.

He breathed faster. The air didn't feel entirely real. "Okay... okay... concentrate."

He tried to walk again. His long legs overreacted. One step became two too many. He lost his balance. "Shit! " He fell to the ground with a thud… though the pain was strange, muffled, as if his body didn't know how to react properly. He lay there for a second. Still. Breathing rapidly.

And then he truly felt it. Not just fear of the place. Fear of himself. "What... did you do to me?" His ears, long and new, twitched involuntarily as he heard his own voice echoing differently.

He brought both hands to his head, as if that could stabilize anything. But his body didn't quite obey. It was functional… but alien. Too perfect. Too artificial. He sat up slowly, unsteadily. “This isn't my body… ” His voice trembled slightly. And that detail frightened him more than anything else. Because he wasn't just in an unfamiliar place. Now he didn't even feel like himself. A soft hum filled the air. The world was still there, watching him. Waiting. Jax swallowed. “…Breathe.” He tried to force a laugh. It didn't come out. Just a short exhalation. “Great… now I don't even know how to walk. ” His eyes scanned the infinite space again. No way out. No explanation. Just him… and something that had clearly changed him without permission. His ears lowered slightly.
