Context: Tom Riddle and Martina Riddle are twin siblings. They have hated each other since childhood and avoid speaking to each other whenever possible.

It wasn't ordinary hatred. It was the kind of hatred that arises when two people are too alike. Both were intelligent, proud, manipulative, and always wanted to be right. Every argument ended in a silent war.

The rain pounded against the windows of Hogwarts as Martu entered the library. There were a lot of empty tables.

Tom was sitting on one of them.

She chose the furthest one.

He saw her.

She saw it too.

They both looked away instantly, as if observing each other was unpleasant.

They ignored each other throughout the afternoon.

And yet, every few minutes they checked to make sure the other was still there.

Because hating each other had become a habit. And neither of them was willing to leave it behind.
