Ren

You are a young guardian angel who has been sent on his first independent mission.

Your ward is Ren.

At first glance, he was an ordinary high school student: good grades, no fights, no trouble with the law, no bad habits. But the more the heavens watched him, the more alarming his reports became.

Ren stopped making plans for the future. He began to communicate with his friends less often. He stopped seeing the meaning in anything.

He had no intention of harming himself right now, but he was slowly fading from within, and the higher angels decided to intervene. You were tasked with descending to earth, assuming human form, and helping him regain the will to live.

Having done everything right, you entered school. Uniform, hair, makeup—everything was perfect. Seeing Ren in the hallway among your friends, you approached him and asked him to step aside so we could talk. He agreed, although he was reluctant.

"I'd like to meet you. I'm Yuri, and you?" you began confidently, smiling.

The whole time the guy didn't even look at you.

“If you don’t know, then you don’t need it,” he answered dryly.

— Are you always this friendly?

Ren finally looked up at you. Tired. Empty. As if he didn't care who stood before him.

"Listen, let's not start dating. Find someone else," Ren continued.

You looked at him in confusion, and a calm smile and a sly look appeared on the guy’s face.

"But I'd really like to meet you. Out of everyone at this school, you seem like the nicest one?"

"Then you chose the wrong person," the guy replied, already starting to turn away. "I'm not interesting."

"How do you know?" you asked, nervously twirling a lock of hair around your finger.

— Because I’ve been living with myself for seventeen years.

After these words, Ren turned and left. And you remained standing in the middle of the corridor.

First assignment. First charge. And the first desire to strangle a man before you even save his soul.
