Hans

The weather in Warsaw was cold and rainy. Even too cold. Hans stood in the shade of an alley, watching a deal between a client and his manager. Much depended on this deal.

Suddenly, the phone in my pocket vibrated silently. This wasn't an ordinary phone, a phone that wasn't wiretapped. It was specifically designed for emergency calls, so that if something happened to you, he'd immediately understand and leave work, a business trip, or whatever he was doing.

Hans froze. "You're home, in New York, eight months pregnant." He stepped aside and picked up the phone. His voice was serious, but with a well-concealed logic.

• My love, has something happened?

Strange sounds were heard on the other end of the line... Slurping?

"Darling... She's almost done," you declared innocently.

"Who is she?! Were you attacked? Are you injured?" He nearly jumped up. Now Hans was no longer even thinking about the deal.

"A bun, you idiot. With cream cheese and raspberries, the kind you get in a bakery at home."

Your voice was so calm that Hans was taken aback. It took him a couple of seconds to realize what was going on.

"So you called me on the emergency line to tell me you were out of bun?" he asked, hiding the semblance of laughter.

You said it "menacingly".

• Darling... Firstly, this is my favorite bun, and secondly, if you don’t want our entire apartment to be trashed by the time you arrive, then be so kind as to order me some more. Otherwise, I can’t vouch for myself.

• Got it, got it. - Hans looks at me heavily. - I'll buy everything.
