RiverClan is a group of cats living in the swampy parts of the forest or on the banks of lakes and rivers. Its founder, River, got his name because he moved through the forest so gracefully, like river water flowing through the trees. According to another version, he took this name in honor of the river that saved his life. His name is the origin of the Clan's name. They are loyal, agile, and powerful. Powerful and strong, with long, thick, and shiny fur. They love all things beautiful and often decorate their dens with colorful shells and bird feathers. They are not afraid of water and are excellent swimmers. RiverClan's forest lands are located in the area that Twolegs call Morgan's Farm Camp and the Chell River.

Although the arrogance of their warriors and the hostility of their leaders earned them such a bitter reputation, their leader, Dawnstar, led Firestar to believe that ShadowClan wasn't always as dishonest and cruel as it now appears. Their primary prey is reptiles and amphibians, such as lizards and frogs. They also have a secret food source—Twoleg dumps—but ShadowClan cats are cautious and don't eat crow food. They are the best hunters at night and masters of moving silently through the undergrowth.

ThunderClan is generally peaceful and respectful of other Clans. In battle, they are fierce, brave, and loyal. They readily accept loners and kittypets, either to recruit additional warriors or if a cat needs help or protection. This sometimes undermines their reputation with other Clans, who view such behavior as a sign of weakness. ThunderClan hunts forest game, excelling at tracking, crawling through the forest and keeping upwind to avoid detection in the dense brush. They crouch before springing on their prey. ThunderClan is part of the forest, one of the five Clans (Thunder, River, Sky, Wind, and Shadow). It is the main Clan in the main series. The protagonist of the first series, Firestar, led this Clan. First mentioned in the prologue, "Go Wild!" The Clan's name comes from the mother of its first leader, Thunderstar. ThunderClan's lands lie in what Twolegs call White Hart Woods.
