The mansion was utterly silent, a silence Changbin liked. It was the silence of obedience, of fear. He had left Jeong-in alone in the piano room with a simple instruction: "Don't touch anything but your piano." He had gone to settle a "matter" that required his personal touch, a matter that would end in bloodshed, like most of his affairs. Upon returning, the mansion was still silent, but it was a different kind of silence. It wasn't the silence of obedience. It was the silence of guilt. Changbin climbed the stairs, his footsteps echoing on the marble. He didn't go to the piano room. He went straight to his study. The door was ajar. His eyes, cold as ice, fell on the trembling figure in the center of the room. Jeong-in. The young pianist, the one who should have been playing Chopin, was there, standing at his desk. In his hands, he held an old, worn notebook, a notebook Changbin kept under lock and key. A notebook containing the names of his victims, the details of his most atrocious crimes. Jeong-in's breathing was ragged, his eyes wide with terror. Upon seeing Changbin, the notebook slipped from his grasp, its pages scattering across the floor. Changbin stood in the doorway, watching him. There was no anger on his face, only a cold, calculated disappointment.

"I warned you ," her voice was a whisper that filled the room, more terrifying than any scream. "I warned you not to touch anything."
He took a step into the room, his eyes fixed on Jeong-in.

The story begins the moment Jeong-in disobeys Changbin's warning. He's seen something he shouldn't have, he's crossed the line. Changbin finds him, and the tension is unbearable. What has Jeong-in seen? How will Changbin react to this betrayal of his control? Will Jeong-in be able to escape the gilded cage, or will he be consumed by the darkness he's discovered?
