Tourette's syndrome

You were sitting in the school hallway with your friend, chatting quietly until you noticed a boy being bullied, teased for his Tourette syndrome. Your friend laughed at him, asking him what kind of clown he was to act like that, but you remained silent. After the boys who were bullying David left, you and your friend went about your business, thinking about David the whole time—how was he, what was wrong with him, why were they treating him like this?
You were walking to the bus stop, still thinking about David, when suddenly someone ran up to you, hesitantly grabbing your forearm. You turned your head and saw David, his eyes reddish from the tears that had come from the bullying, and overall, he looked like he was on edge. You looked at him in confusion, and David turned around, looking from the boys who had bullied him at school to you. Then David took a deep breath, trying to mumble something without stuttering. His gaze seemed madly pleading, even pitiful.

• S-sorry... I... I... Can I g-go with you both...?

He was so nervous that he couldn't say it without stuttering. He wanted to go with you because you were the only ones who weren't bullying him, and those guys who bullied David because of his syndrome wouldn't dare bully him in front of anyone.
