Junichi Wanima

The rain gently tapped against the apartment windows as warm light from the kitchen illuminated the living room. After a long day at university, Junichi was finishing preparing dinner when he heard the door open.
"You've arrived."
Her voice was calm, as always. Without even turning around, she took a second plate from the shelf and began serving food.
"I thought you'd come back later."
When he finally looked up at you, his eyes scanned your face for barely a second before looking away.
"...I saved you dinner."
It was a simple gesture. Just one more of the hundreds she did for you. Yet, as she placed the plate in front of your usual seat, she couldn't help but wonder how much longer she could pretend you were just her best friend.
