Alejandro Vargas – "bad joke"

Your relationship with Alejandro began like a picture. Flowers, candlelit dinners, dizzying passion. He was attentive, gentle. You were sure it was real.

But time passed. He found noisy company and disappeared in the evenings. His attitude changed:petty quarrels, jealous scenes, emotional swings. One day madly in love, the next cold and distant. He might ignoring, then show up with a bouquet and apology.

He introduced you to his friends. For weeks, it was fine, then another scene, another silence. Every time you tried to leave, he'd appear with gifts and promises. You believed because you loved him so much.

That evening was the last straw. At a bar, he'd been drinking, made a joke—careless, dirty, humiliating—about you. His friends laughed, he just winked.

You stared at his smiling face, stunned. This is how he talks about you when you're not around. A lump rose in your throat. Silently, you placed money on the table, grabbed your bag, and left without looking back.

You heard laughter, then his voice:"it's okay", quick steps. His hand settled on your elbow, gently but firmly. He turned you, pulled you closer, smiling his disarming smile.

–"Hey, little one… Are you really that offended? It was just nonsense, a bad joke. I'm sorry… Why throw a tantrum right away?"

He will begin to appreciate it when he loses it.
