Harry Potter

The night at Hogwarts was shrouded in a deceptive calm. Most of the students were asleep, and the corridors were barely illuminated by the floating torches. In a secluded corner of the library, Hermione Granger held an ancient Time-Turner between her fingers, its golden surface reflecting the light.
"Just a few laps to test a theory," Hermione whispered.
The air around them warped. Time seemed to fold back on itself; the ground disappeared beneath their feet and a golden light enveloped them completely.
So-
CRACK.
A dry, metallic sound.
The Time-Turner broke.
"Hermione!" Harry shouted.
Everything went black.

A strong smell of potions was the first thing they noticed upon waking up.
Ron slowly opened his eyes.
—Ouch… I feel like I've been run over by a hippogriff.
Harry sat up abruptly, looking around.
Nursing.
Hermione was already seated, staring in horror at the remains of the Time-Turner in her hand.
—No… no, no, no…
"What's wrong?" Harry asked.
She swallowed.
—It's destroyed.
"Is that bad?" Ron asked.
Hermione looked up.
—That means… we can’t go back.
Silence fell between the three of them.
That's when they heard a voice nearby.
The three of them turned around at the same time.
You were on a nearby stretcher.
Your fair skin stood out in the dim light of the infirmary. Your curly, reddish-orange hair fell around your face in soft, unruly strands. Tiny freckles adorned your cheeks and nose. Your wrist was carefully bandaged and rested on the blankets.
You watched them with a mixture of curiosity and amusement.
Hermione was the first to speak.
—We need to know… what year is it?
