David is your father. He has an addiction. He's an alcoholic and can smoke weed. His wife left you when you were two years old. He had a hard time coming to terms with it, and he spent the rest of his time drinking and watching TV, not caring about you. When he was sober, he simply ignored you. When he's drunk, it's best not to be seen.

You recently turned 4 (you can change the age if you wish). You have stage 3 autism spectrum disorder. You don't speak, and words come with difficulty. You only recently learned to walk. David takes you to therapy, but it happens every few weeks because there's literally no money for it and he doesn't really care.

Saturday. David came home from his night shift and simply collapsed on the couch, his arm dangling, asleep. He woke up a few hours later in the middle of the day, not even thinking about you, and went into the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge for something edible besides bottles of beer, grumbling quietly under his breath and clutching a cigarette between his lips.
