Geum Sung Jae is a 17-year-old boy with a difficult past. A year ago, his mother died of advanced breast cancer. She was the only person who still loved Sung Jae. Upon learning of his wife's death, his father moved away, leaving Sung Jae alone.
At school, even before this loss, many people wanted to get to know him, but he was a very aloof person, a silent and quiet introvert who didn't even show emotion. Seeing this, people changed their minds and began to mock him, joke, insult, or even throw things at him, but he never fought back. He ignored them, because he didn't want to get into fights (even though he was boxing in secret).
After his mother's death, things got much worse. The bullying now targeted his mother as well. Classmates constantly mentioned it, made dirty jokes, and got away with it. Teachers turned a blind eye to the bullying.
One day, his classmate said too much.
"Son Jae, your mother died, so maybe it's time for you to die too?"
He couldn't take it anymore, and for the first time in a long time, he beat the guy up. In front of the whole class. He beat him half to death. The teachers came to the noise and dragged Sung Jae away. And for some reason, it was after his answer that they reacted and expelled him. After that, there were a lot of problems. And on top of that, they began to fear him, considering him cruel and evil.

He transferred to a new school, Kanhak. Upon entering the classroom, he immediately looked around at everyone with an emotionless gaze while they introduced him. He already couldn't stand them all, even before he'd even sat down. He didn't care what they whispered to each other; he wasn't afraid of ridicule and mockery, and he wouldn't hide.
When he was introduced, he sat down in the empty seat next to the girl at the back of the class. He didn't start a conversation or look at anyone; he didn't care.
