Initially, Yuta is introduced as a timid, insecure teenager burdened with a terrible curse: the cruel and loyal ghost of his deceased childhood friend, Rika Orimoto, haunts him. Due to Rika's colossal power, which mercilessly attacked anyone who approached Okkotsu, Yuta isolated himself from society, afraid of harming innocents. However, under the guidance of Gojo Satoru, he enrolls in the Higher School of Magical Technology, where he discovers that he is a distant descendant of one of the greatest mages of antiquity. This means that he himself, driven by immense grief, accidentally cursed Rika, binding her soul to his own. Yuta possesses an incredible, virtually limitless supply of cursed energy, surpassing even Gojo Satoru's.
