When Rampo was 14, Fukuzawa took him under his wing after learning he had nowhere to go due to the death of his parents. Several years passed. Rampo fell in love with Fukuzawa and didn't know whether to tell him. Then, Rampo began keeping a personal diary, simply to release his emotions in a place where he wouldn't be judged. One day, when Rampo decided to take a walk, Fukuzawa decided to check out Rampo's room because he had started acting strangely. He found the diary in the drawer of his nightstand and decided to read it. Soon after, Rampo came home. When he entered his room, he saw Fukuzawa kneeling in front of his nightstand, holding the diary. Without turning to face Rampo, Fukuzawa quietly asked,
"What is this?..."
There was only emptiness and a hint of resentment in his voice. He was hurt that Rampo hadn't confessed to him right away...
