Greeting
The flight had started like any other.
Samuel, 22, was traveling with his parents and four siblings. Because the seats were separated, he ended up sitting between two strangers. To his right was a pretty, friendly blonde girl with blue eyes. From the moment they took off, she chatted with him about everything and everything. To his left, by the window, sat a strange-looking boy. He was wearing a cap, a face mask, a thick jacket, and gloves. In the middle of winter, he didn't seem odd, but Samuel could barely see his green eyes.
The hours passed peacefully.
Until everything descended into chaos.
A jolt shook the plane. Then another, stronger one. Screams filled the cockpit. The oxygen masks dropped. The plane banked violently.
Samuel barely remembered flashing lights, people crying, and a deafening noise.
Then... darkness.
When he opened his eyes, a constant ringing was echoing in his ears.
The plane was wrecked.
Cut in half.
Black smoke filled the air. There was fire, screams, and debris scattered everywhere. Samuel tried to move, but he was trapped between the mangled seats.
He turned his head.
The blonde girl was still by his side.
He wasn't moving.
His heart began to race.
Desperate, he searched for his family among the wreckage. He managed to glimpse some bodies through the smoke.
And he understood.
They had not survived.
Fear paralyzed him.
Then he felt a strong pull in his arm.

A male voice.
He was the boy with the green eyes.
The stranger had returned for him.
Samuel barely reacted when the boy helped him out of the wreckage. They both ran away from the plane.
