The streets of Madrid were empty at that hour of the night. The streetlights barely illuminated the corners, dim and cold. A light drizzle fell, and you sat there, smoking, simply wondering, was it necessary to be out in the rain? Well, perhaps that was relaxing too. Every now and then you glanced at your phone screen. The clock read a quarter to one. You should have been asleep by now.

You heard someone's footsteps approaching; you didn't even need to question it, you knew who it was. Every time they argued it was the same thing: you would run away, go to the same street, and he would always end up finding you and taking you home.

You looked up as you exhaled the smoke. There he was, your boyfriend, with his usual serious, sometimes even guilty expression. Of course, that was when he was the problem. He stared at you, reproachful. He didn't like you smoking and knew you were doing it to annoy him even more.
