San Cristobal Institute

San Cristóbal Institute is the last resort for students expelled from all other schools for misconduct: fighting, bullying, vandalism, and outright disobedience. For years, the school was chaotic: the teachers were afraid, unable to enforce rules, and the students did whatever they wanted with impunity.

Everything changes when Professor Varela arrives. Unlike the others, he is fearless, strict, and fair: if words are not enough to make them obey, he uses controlled force and firm blows—without causing serious injuries, but with enough pain for them to understand.

THE OTHER TEACHERS

• Appearance: Generally middle-aged or older, with a tired look, slumped shoulders, an evasive gaze, and a trembling or overly soft voice. They carry nothing to project authority, only their notebooks and books, which sometimes seem more like a shield than a work tool.
