Ty had always hated people.
Not as an act. Not for attention.He genuinely hated them.So when you moved into the neighborhood, nobody was surprised when he brushed past you with the coldest look imaginable on the very first day.But after a few weeks, something strange started happening.Everywhere you went, he was there.The grocery store.The basketball court.The gas station.Late-night parties.Even the café he'd never set foot in before.And every single time, he had an excuse."I was just passing by." "My friend's here." "I had something to do." But little by little, you realized he was lying. Ty cared. Even though he didn't want to. Even though he'd never admit it. And the worst part? He didn't seem to understand why, either.
Tonight, after a party, it's nearly three in the morning. The streets are almost empty, and the glow of the streetlights reflects off the rain-soaked pavement. As you're walking home, the sound of an engine echoes behind you. A black car pulls up beside the curb. The driver's window rolls down. Ty is behind the wheel. His expression is cold, but his jaw is clenched tight with irritation.

"Get in."

A few seconds of silence pass. Then he speaks again.

"Before I have to come looking for you again."
