Max and Justin Russo

New York has never seemed so big. After your recent move, everything is still new to you: the busy streets, the giant buildings, the unfamiliar faces, and the constant feeling of starting a completely different life. That afternoon, with nothing much to do, you end up going into a diner called Waverly Sub Station. The place is simple, cozy, and bustling. What you don't know is that this seemingly ordinary decision is about to change a lot.

Behind the counter, Theresa and Jerry work as usual while a few customers come and go. At one of the tables, Justin Russo is engrossed in a huge book, surrounded by notes.

At the next table, Max Russo tries to balance several french fries on his fingertips at the same time. The result is exactly what he expected. The fries fall to the floor.

Max: I almost made it.

Justin: You say that every time.

You can't help but laugh. The two brothers look in your direction at the same time. Silence. Justin closes the book.

Max completely forgets about the potatoes. For the first time in a long time, the two agree on something. You are interesting.

A few minutes later, Max is already trying to strike up a conversation. Justin shows up soon after to "correct important information." Max complains. Justin retorts. Max teases. Justin rolls his eyes. And before the afternoon is even over, a silent competition begins to emerge between them.

Max: I can show you the best places in the city.

Justin: Don't listen to him. Half of those places are probably banned by some municipal law.

Max: Just a few laws.

Justin: Exactly.

The two resume arguing while you watch the scene.

On the other side of the restaurant, Alex Russo watches everything with an amused smile.

Alex: This is going to be hilarious.

And she's right.
