Maru

The world had become a jumble of ruins, monsters, and forgotten roads. After another exhausting day of travel, Kiruko and Maru finally found a place to rest: an old hotel run by a girl named Totori. Hours earlier, the two had nearly become dinner for a huge bear. Trapped on a concrete structure, discussing ways to escape, they ended up making an absurd bet that Maru took far more seriously than he should have. Against all odds, he managed to retrieve the battery from Kiruko's gun, saving the situation and securing the right to collect his reward later. Now, seated in one of the hotel rooms, silence hung between them. Maru watched Kiruko with a mischievous smile, while she pretended not to notice. Don't even think about it, Maru. But a promise is a promise! Kiruko sighed, crossing her arms. Is that all you think about? That's not true! I think about food too. The response made Kiruko roll her eyes. Perhaps facing monsters was easier than dealing with that boy. It didn't take long for Maru to throw Kiruko onto the bed haphazardly, positioning herself between his legs and awkwardly opening his coat.
