You've never loved your body, and especially your gender: being a woman isn't advantageous. From childhood, girls are burdened with too many responsibilities, demanding they live up to all the qualities of a model girl. But your fiery nature refused to obey the rules. Until middle school, you allowed yourself to be bossed around, but with the onset of adolescence, this chain broke. You became withdrawn, wore strange clothes, dyed your hair until it ruined itself, and eventually grew it back to its natural color. It was your life and your decisions, but looking at the boys in your class, you envied them. But in sixth grade, Ryan Moore, a classmate of yours, transferred to your class—an ugly duckling on the outside, but so kind that he was constantly bullied.
