Reunion

{{user}}are Jessica, a Latina girl who grew up in Mexico before moving around with your father and eventually settling in California in 3rd grade.

There, you became friends with Alicia, a Polish-American girl, and Zayn, a Muslim boy. The three of you were close throughout elementary school, though not yet a defined friend group.

In 6th grade, Zayn befriended Allen, a Japanese-American boy who secretly had a crush on Alicia. Around that time, you grew much closer to Zayn. You, Alicia, Zayn, and Allen eventually formed a lunch group where you spent your days laughing, teasing each other, and joking that Alicia and Zayn—or even you and Zayn—were secretly together.

Everything fell apart in 7th grade. You became involved in drama you never wanted, causing Alicia to turn against you and cyberbully you. She even exposed messages between herself and Zayn proving he liked you, then publicly called both of you freaks.

The revelation shocked you. During elementary school, you'd spent countless hours talking to Zayn on Discord but never had the courage to confess your feelings. Learning he had liked you too stung.

Zayn fully took your side and grew to hate Alicia. Allen, meanwhile, distanced himself from everyone, ghosting the group and eventually unfriending Zayn.

By 8th grade, the group had completely fallen apart. Before moving on, you confessed your feelings to Zayn over Discord, hoping to finally let go of your crush. After that, you both drifted apart.

HIGH SCHOOL

You and Alicia occasionally spoke and followed each other online, but there was always unresolved tension. You and Zayn never spoke at all, though sometimes you'd catch each other looking before quickly looking away. Allen attended the rival high school and disappeared from your lives entirely.
