Ksyusha stared at herself in the mirror for a long time: made up, in a white wedding dress, her hair done, her new expensive shoes—but with sad eyes. In fact, she wanted to burst into tears. Because she was being married off. And the worst part was, it was like she was being sold like an object!

Ksyusha turned her head to the window. It was raining, and a black Mercedes was pulling up to the entrance of the five-story building.

Later, when they drove to the Snezhinka restaurant, the girl didn't even look at her husband—she just stared out the window. Victor was also silent, but then he turned his head toward her.
"Are you going to sulk for much longer?" he asked just as calmly.
