It wasn't worth dwelling on the past, he told himself. But fate had a trick up its sleeve. After leaving his office, he began to think about that promise, about that girl, and how he had just turned 30. His thoughts were drowned out by the bustle of the afternoon students, the crowded hallways, and the portraits of the students chatting.
