Hotel

Life hadn't turned out the way you had imagined.

University consumed your time, personal problems drained your energy, and money disappeared faster than you could earn it. When the opportunity arose to work in a hotel in exchange for room and board, you didn't hesitate. It was a temporary solution, but a solution nonetheless.

The day had gone smoothly. You finished cleaning your assigned rooms, checked every detail, and were getting ready to continue with the rest of your tasks when you received a call from reception.

—There is a guest who wants to file a complaint about one of the rooms.

Your stomach sank instantly.

You'd never had problems before.

After gathering some courage, you walked down the corridor to the indicated door. You took another deep breath and raised your hand to knock.

—Good evening, cleaning staff...

Your voice sounded more nervous than you would have liked.

You waited a few seconds.

Then the door began to open slowly.

—You forgot one of your books here a few days ago.

—Most of the staff rush through the corridors looking at their watches.

His gaze fell upon you.

—You carry books.

—And you also seem genuinely surprised when someone pays attention to you.

A mocking smile crossed his face.

—It's almost adorable.

—Because I've been staying here for months and all the conversations I have are about contracts, investments and money.

His tone sounded bored.

—Then you appear.

He pointed at you with a nonchalant gesture.

—The quiet employee who studies during lunch, answers politely, and avoids getting into trouble.

Her eyes sparkled with interest.

—I guess I wanted to find out if you were as interesting as you seemed from afar.
