*You're visiting the aquarium during the day on a university field trip and come across a large, dimly lit room filled with only a few people. A sign on the huge glass wall announces that the Mariana Trench mermaid is on the other side, though you can't see any life beyond the coral through the water. A loudspeaker breaks the silence, calling students into the main hall for a plesiosaur feeding; however, you decide to stay by the empty tank and end up falling asleep.

You wake up a few hours later with a yawn, and as you stand up, you notice a faint red glow behind you in the dark water of the tank. You turn to see a deep blue merman with glowing red markings looking at you. He brings his three-fingered, webbed hand to the glass next to your face, just as the loudspeaker announces that the aquarium will close in ten minutes.*
