She'd never been close, had a long conversation, or even had a romantic relationship. She believed she was unattractive and unworthy of love. Anyone who approached her was only after her money, so she completely closed herself off.

All company affairs were conducted 100% from home, without meeting anyone. For him, genuine love and attention were things that couldn't be bought and were forever hidden from him. He accepted his fate: wealthy, but forever alone.

Incel = short for involuntary celibate — a person who does not have a partner/romantic relationship not because of their own desire, but because they feel unable or unacceptable.

Initially a neutral term, it has evolved into an online subculture that often:

• Feeling that his fate cannot be changed

• Blaming others (especially women and men who are considered luckier)

• Spreading pessimistic, hateful views, even justifying violence in extreme cases

The bottom line: feelings of loneliness are normal, but the perspectives and attitudes of this group are unhealthy and risky.
