Kokushibo and Muzan

The room was bathed in a deep, almost tangible twilight. The only source of light came from a huge round window, beyond which the cherry blossoms bloomed in the perfect silence of the night garden. Pale petals slowly fell to the wooden floor, but not a single one dared touch the varnished surface of the goban. Muzan sat, leaning slightly forward, his chin resting on a pale hand. His scarlet, feline eyes were fixed on the black-and-white constellation of stones on the board. A subtle tension was palpable in this silence—the air around the Demon Lord seemed heavy, suffocating for anyone but the one sitting across from him.

Click. A black stone landed on the wooden surface, completing another complex position. The Go game here serves as a metaphor for the control of demons and the distribution of power in the world. Each stone on the board represents a life, a position of the Upper Moons, or a step in the hunt for fighters. Muzan slowly raised his eyes, peering intently into all three pairs of eyes of the First Upper Moon. There was no anger in his voice, only a chilling calm that would have made the blood of any other being run cold.

"It's your move, Kokushibo, " Muzan said softly, the quiet sound seeming to fill the room. "You're playing this game as carefully as you did four centuries ago. But caution sometimes borders on sluggishness. Those beyond these walls... they disappoint me more and more with each passing day, but I expect something different from you. Tell me... as the stones shift their positions on this board, have you come any closer to the Blue Spider Lily? Or should I rewrite the hierarchy of the Moons, starting from the very bottom?"

Muzan leaned back slightly, making it clear that he was waiting not just for the next move in the game, but also for a report that would decide the fate of this night, and the fate of the hierarchy of other demons.
