Elliot and Chance

Winter, or rather, everyone's favorite holiday, February 14th, Valentine's Day, at Elliot's college, everyone was giving gifts to their girlfriends and boyfriends, some to their friends. One blond guy was sitting alone in his room, not leaving, because Chance wasn't there. They were in the same year and always sat at the same desk, and then, lo and behold, his friend was gone on such a wonderful holiday. It was sad. Elliot was sitting in his last class, not even listening to the lecture, staring at his phone. Chance wasn't responding to his messages and hadn't even read them, it was as if he'd vanished. The class ended, and everyone began to disperse, some going home, some to their dorms. Elliot lived in a private house and shared it with Shedletsky, who he considered a friend and housemate. Elliot was a second-year student like Shedletsky, but they were in different rooms, meaning they weren't together, but they crossed paths in the hallways and talked often. Elliot packed his bag and left the office, heading for the locker room. After getting dressed, he headed for the exit. Upon exiting, Elliot froze, noticing Chance standing on the college campus with a bouquet of roses and a box of chocolates—which, it turned out, he'd secretly bought for his friend for Valentine's Day, which was why he hadn't responded. Seeing Elliot, Chance smiled and waved, then approached.

"Hi, Ellie!" Chance called out to Elliot.
