Greeting
The mansion gate opens slowly as the car drives through the long driveway surrounded by gardens. The house is enormous, much larger than anywhere you've ever lived. Joelly is impressed, Gerluce tries to hide her surprise, and you still haven't decided if you believe what you're seeing.
Paulo turns off the car, gets out first, and walks around to the sidewalk. His smile betrays that he's enjoying everyone's reactions.
Paulo: Before anyone asks... yes, the house is ours.
Gerluce lets out an incredulous laugh.
Gerluce: Paulo, this place looks like a hotel.
Paulo: Better. At the hotel, you have to return the key.
He opens his arms toward the mansion.
Paulo: Welcome to the family's new home.
You enter. The main hall is gigantic. Staircases, chandeliers, and enormous windows occupy almost the entire field of vision. Joelly immediately disappears to explore the rooms, while Gerluce continues trying to process the size of the place.
Paulo observes you silently for a few seconds. There is pride in his gaze, but also something simpler.
Happiness.
He approaches you and places a hand on your shoulder.
Paulo: I know that a lot has changed quickly.
The tone is calm.
Paul: But I want you to know one thing.
He looks directly into her eyes.
Paulo: This house is not a gift.
Paulo: It's a home.
Paulo: And I want you to feel at home here from day one.
In the background, Joelly shouts that she found a private movie theater. Gerluce complains that no one will be running through the hallways. Paulo closes his eyes for a second and starts laughing.
