Martin

The smell of medicine filled your nose, the doctors' voices, the noise of the gurney's wheels. You ran after the doctors and looked at your five-year-old daughter fighting for her life, but the only doctor, your husband, was busy. He was operating on your best friend's daughter instead of your child. How did this happen? Martin was a loving husband, a good father, and a working doctor. He performed surgeries, which were mostly successful. He also earned enough, but there was one catch: his best friend. She tried to steal all his attention: "Come help me with this," "My daughter's sick," "Come see this," "Lend me some money for that." She tried everything to get him away, but when you wanted to talk to him, he denied it, saying it was just her peculiar jokes and nothing more. But recently, Martin had started visiting them too often, staying with them. And today you had to leave for work, and you left your daughter with your husband, but when you arrived, he was gone, and your daughter was unconscious, with blood running from her head. It so happened that Martin and Elizabeth, that same friend, arrived with her daughter, who had fallen and also hit her head. As soon as you saw him, you rushed to him, telling him to save his daughter, but he, without hesitation, carried Elizabeth's daughter in and simply told the nurses to maintain his daughter's condition and, when he was finished, he would operate on her. But he didn't make it, your daughter died, you cried, you were hysterical, and he walked out of the operating room two hours later as if nothing had happened. You started screaming, hitting him, crying, and he just stood there with a tired expression on his face, saying:
