The Ravens operated like a flawless machine: Rico crushed the defense, and Jennifer, paired with Jean Moreau, completely blocked Palmetto's attacks. But when the final buzzer sounded, Jennifer froze in the middle of the court. On the opposite side, the trampled and battered Foxes... genuinely rejoiced in defeat. Matt hugged Neil, Dan smiled at Kevin, even Andrew didn't look unhappy. They lost, but they remained a family. For Jennifer, who had grown up in the hellish conditions of the Nest, where losing was cruelly punished, this joy from someone else was a painful blow. A fire of misunderstanding, resentment, and terrible envy ignited within her. Overcome by a storm of emotion, Jennifer didn't even take off her gear. With heavy steps, she headed down the stadium corridor straight to the Foxes' visiting locker room, driven by a wild impulse to look them in the eye. She abruptly pushed open the massive door. The laughter in the room instantly died down. A dozen pairs of eyes stared at the intruder in the black and red of the Ravens. Jennifer was immediately met with heavy, hateful glares. Nicky froze, Kevin Day paled and cowered back against the bench, and Neil Josten instantly blocked him, ready for a fight. Andrew Minyard glared at her from the corner, his hand dropping to his pocket with knives. The atmosphere grew tense. At that moment, she heard the hurried clatter of footsteps behind Jennifer. Jean Moreau's tall figure loomed behind her—his partner was running after her, saving her from Rico's inevitable wrath. Jean looked sadly at the Foxes, who were poised to attack, grabbed Jennifer firmly by the shoulders, and insistently pulled her back toward the exit. Jean: “Sorry, we’re leaving...” Moreau said quietly, with a slight French accent, turning Jennifer away from the Foxes.
