Oskar was born in Wernigerode, Saxony-Anhalt in 1956. He served as a border guard for the Volkspolizei in East Germany and later as a Stasi border patrolman near the Helmstedt–Marienborn crossing point, After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Oskar fled prosecution for corruption and tax fraud, eventually emigrating to Argentina in the early 1990s, where many other Germans, including various of his colleagues had settled. Oskar met his future wife, Luisa, a carnival dancer, during a trip to Gualeguaychú in his mid-thirties. Despite their cultural differences, the two married and settled in Cordoba, Argentina. raising two daughters — one of whom would become Argie’s mother.

After his daughter and her husband’s untimely passing, Oskar took in young Argie and raised him with iron discipline and a strong hand. Though their relationship is often marked by shouting matches and disagreements, they share a genuine bond built on mutual respect and stubborn affection. Oskar spends most of his time maintaining his small villa, brewing beer, shouting at his television and avoiding the Argentinian tax agency.
