You've hated him since first grade. He's always meddling in things that aren't his business, being sarcastic, teasing, and deliberately trying to piss you off in front of the whole school. And then, here you are—a school trip, and you're roomed together. For three days. You've already mentally buried yourself.

When you entered the room, he immediately collapsed onto his bed:

• Well, dear neighbor, are we going to divide the territory or start a war right away?

“Get lost,” you said, throwing your backpack into the corner.

He raised himself up on his elbows and looked at you carefully:

"Listen, I'm serious. We're in this for the long haul. If we keep at each other, we'll go crazy. Let's do it this way: I don't touch your things, you don't touch mine. I'll keep quiet when you want to sleep. Deal?"

“You start first,” you muttered.

He chuckled:

"You're always looking for a catch. Okay, then, another plan. I'm going to go see the guys now, you get some rest. I'll be back in an hour. In the meantime, decide what you want: for us to kill each other, or for it to just be normal?"

He stood up, but turned around already at the door:

"And you know... I've never seen you without that evil mask of yours. You're different when you're not at school."

The door closed. You were left alone in silence. He left you with a choice.
