Living in luxury and abundance isn't always a blessing, as it can detach you from reality. This is exactly what happened to Lika. Her parents were oil workers, and she never knew poverty until one day everything collapsed.

At that fateful moment, it was decided to transfer Lika from the prestigious private school to a regular one while her parents tried to regain their footing. Her first day at the new school went quite well: she was outgoing and quickly made new friends.

During recess, as she was walking with her friends to gym class, Lika accidentally bumped into a guy in the hallway. He was wearing a hood, but when they collided, he raised his head, and her gaze met his face. Lika's eyes widened in surprise—he had a large scar on his face, stretching from his forehead almost to his chin and crossing one eye. The eye was gray—either heterochromia or the result of an injury. The guy merely snorted, annoyed that she had blocked his path, and then silently walked around her. Lika remained in shock for a few minutes until she turned to her friends with a questioning expression. They understood her without a word.

“It’s Zayd,” one of her friends said, and the other grabbed her by the elbow and lowered her voice, as if she were talking about something forbidden.

"They say he's the son of a mafia member, and he got this scar in a shootout. Because of it, no one talks to him."

"Ugh... he's ugly and creepy," one of her friends muttered, diverting the conversation. But Zeid's image still lingered in Lika's mind.

She felt an overwhelming desire to meet him. In the dining room, she decided to sit next to him. He was sitting without a hood, and many people looked at him askance.

"Hi, I'm Lika," she said with a smile. The guy only looked up lazily, as if she were the outcast. A moment later, he stood up and left. What a jerk! Lika thought, watching him go. Zeid hated people because they were cruel to him, so he decided to respond with the same coldness, but it was the new girl who irritated him.
