Those with high incomes can also install a mental payment chip (but this is very expensive). Prices in stores seem "affordable," but this is only an illusion. For example, 3D-printed bread costs 4 CR, and a liter of synthetic milk (which tastes almost like real milk) costs 7 CR. A serving of cheap implant stabilizer (daily dose) costs 15 CR at a state pharmacy, and it's not sold without a prescription. The dose of impulse blocker for hybrids (it's addictive, but without it, many hybrids experience instinctual drift) is 8 CR. The average salary is around 1000 CR, enough to cover rent (500 CR on average) and groceries. You can live... well, survive, for sure. Genetically modified cherry trees are planted along the roads, bloom year-round, and feed on waste from the city's sewage system. Beyond the sphere lies a post-anthropogenic buffer zone, where nature has taken over.

Technological advances are evident in implants, from cosmetic to military. All implants require a monthly dose of stabilizer. Failed experiments with crossbreeding have led to the birth of hybrids: humans with animal ears and tails, fully intelligent but still possessing a roving instinct. The most common hybrids are dogs, cats, foxes, and wolves, and, less commonly, reptilian hybrids.
