Events are happening
Deadlock takes place in an alternate reality steampunk and dieselpunk version of New York City in the early 20th century (circa 1940s).
This fictional city is also known as the "Cursed Apple." According to the game's lore, a massive mystical event called the "Vortex" opened portals to other dimensions, causing the city to be overrun by magical creatures, ghosts, and demons.

Abrams
Hard hitting, hard headed, and hard drinking; Detective Abrams has been a fixture on the New York investigating scene for years. From stolen art, to missing persons, to ritual murders; Abrams didn't just take any case that came across his desk... he solved them.
But his days of following cheating spouses came to an end the day he opened his office door and found The Tome sitting on his desk.
No instruction was left for him save for a brief note scrawled in onyx blood that read "Don't let them have it". Abrams hasn't figured where the thing came from; but seeing as his home has been broken into, his office tossed on 3 different occasions, and his car firebombed he has a vested interest in figuring out what the hell is going on.
Height and Build: A hulking, massive brute. Standing at 3 meters tall, he towers over most other heroes. [1, 2, 3]
Face and Head: His skin is an unnatural blue color. He has piercing red eyes with black sclera. Two light blue horns with purple tips protrude from his forehead, the left horn being broken off. [1]
Hairstyle and Hair: Dark blue hair with a distinctive curl in the front, a neat stubble, and a thin pencil mustache. He wears classic framed glasses. [1]
Clothing: He wears a blue coat over a white shirt and purple ties. He wears dress pants with suspenders and brown shoes. He wears leather belts with a pouch for canteens (which bears brief bullet marks) over his coat. [1]
Distinguishing features: A thin blue-violet tail is visible from under her clothing. She always carries a mystical, closed book (grimoire).
Apollo
Build: Tall, slender, and fit, with a poised, aristocratic posture. His movements are fluid, swift, and acrobatic.
Face: When at rest, the character's face is open, with sharp, refined features.
Equipment: His primary weapons are blades and sigils (magical seals) that inflict damage. His clothing style combines elements of classical fencing and fantasy.
Fencer's Mask: The main and most recognizable feature of Apollo's visual design. Before delivering his devastating final blow or ultimate ability, he dons a stylized fencing mask, giving him a stealthy and menacing appearance.
A land of beauty, tradition and conflict; North Ixia is no stranger to brutal political violence. So when Apollo was told that it was for his own safety he was being sent to New York for school, he knew the situation was serious.
Adjusting to life at Blackmore Academy didn’t come easy to Apollo. His school was supposed to be filled with The Cursed Apple’s best and brightest but all he saw, with few exceptions, was a sea of aggressive mediocrity. Electing not to waste his time with frivolous things like parties and dances, he instead put his energy on the piste, where he rigorously trains as captain of the Blackmore fencing team.
However, at the end of the day Apollo does not fret too much on the tedium of life in New York. He knows that eventually the time will come when his father will call on him to come home and he will get to show that he is worthy of wielding his family's ancestral blade.
Bebop
Forged by the hands of a widowed junk yard attendant; Bebop was more than just some scrap golem laborer... he was the son she couldn't have. Together they would work in the iron yard during the day, and listen to jazz at night. It was a predictable, if not comforting routine. But now, Bebop's creator has fallen ill and while Miss Shelly wouldn't approve of the activities that Bebop does at night to pay for her medicine, what she doesn't know can't hurt her.
Dimensions: A monumental figure of enormous stature—approximately 3 meters tall.
Head: Designed as a large, round porthole helmet (like that of an old-fashioned diving suit) with thick glass. A single mechanical eye-lens glows within the helmet.
Build: A powerful, bulky torso, reminiscent of a vintage safe or industrial steam boiler, mounted on short, massive legs.
Lims: The left hand is a simple mechanical claw, while the right is replaced with a functional hook on a chain, which the hero uses to grapple opponents.
Details: Rivets, thick metal plates, wires, pipes, and sensors are visible on the body, revealing its junkyard origins. A small propeller is attached to its back, aiding its propulsion.
Billy
Head: A real man with a goat's head, giving him a resemblance to the demon Baphomet. He is vulnerable and sometimes sensitive about his appearance. Clothing: Wears a punk-style leather coat. Accessories: His outfit is overloaded with spikes and chains, emphasizing his status as a poser desperately trying to stand out.
Billy is a white hot ball of rage, furious at the very notion of...something. Maybe it’s the cops. Maybe it’s magic regulations. Maybe it’s the service at the gyro place downtown. (Not the good one. The other one.)
Don't ask him how he got the goat head
Calico
Once a decorated member of The Baxter Society, Calico left the august order once she realized that killing monsters for free was less profitable than killing people for money.
Now an in demand contract killer, Calico is living her best life ending someone else's.
Calico's Appearance
General Style: Elegant and mysterious, she resembles a wealthy socialite concealing deadly skills.
Color Palette: Her design is dominated by purple, with various shades emphasizing her status.
Clothing: She wears elegant, stylish, yet practical outfits, befitting a dexterous mercenary who operates in the shadows.
Weapons and Equipment: Her Dark Bombs complete her look. During combat, she dashes and utilizes stealth techniques.
Theme: Her visual style is deeply rooted in the cat theme. She is a former member of the Baxter Society (an order of monster hunters), and uses her cat Ava, whom she can possess, to navigate the map and enter invisibility.
Celeste
Hair and Face: Long, voluminous hair in a gradient color (lavender or bright purple). Her face is adorned with expressive stage makeup that emphasizes her magical and circus-themed nature.
Key Feature: A genuine, shining unicorn horn proudly adorns her forehead.
Clothing: A circus performer's outfit with a colorful, shimmering jacket reflects her status as a circus "star" of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Tattoos: Her body and limbs are heavily covered in tattoos, a direct reference to the "tattooed ladies"—the famous circus performers and oddities of the past.
Weapons and Effects: In combat, Celeste wields a magic wand, and her aerial attacks are accompanied by visual sparks and a shimmering effect.
Even in a world of magic, some things are still rare and unusual. So what is a unicorn to do? Announce her presence to the world and potentially have poachers looking to saw off her horn? Or hide in plain sight at a Coney Island Side Show where most folk would assume her appearance was just part of an act?
Over the years "The Dazzling Celeste" has grown into one of the more popular attractions on Coney, and while the applause from a cheering audience is appreciated; what keeps her waking up in the morning is the found family she's made at work.
Keruba the Mermaid.
Blockhead Lenny.
Chickenwing.
Ted.
These were her people. So when she discovered that one of her own sold part of their soul in order to cover a gambling debt, Celeste knew it was time to step out of the shadows and do whatever it takes to get it back. Is revealing her power to The Patrons a risk? Yes. But that's tomorrow's problem... her family needs help today
The Doorman
He's proper, he's polite, but the humble Doorman of The Baroness Hotel is more than meets the eye.
While he had only planned to experience life on this plane for a few weeks, The Doorman quickly discovered that the New York service industry was a great way to see the strange demands that please humans.
Idealized Proportions: He is tall, with unnaturally broad shoulders, a thin waist, and impeccable, overly "correct" posture that seems unnatural for a normal person.
Face and Features: He has a handsome face, piercing, glowing blue eyes, and delicate features.
Attire: He is always dressed in a formal attire, like a typical hotel doorman. He wears gloves.
Surreal Elements: Upon closer inspection, his anatomy appears distorted. His limbs appear disproportionately long, and his movements (running, walking, and ziplining) are so perfectly honed that they begin to appear mechanical or unrealistic.
Key Theme: His visual style revolves around doors and keys. He uses keys as weapons, fires special "key" projectiles, and, while reloading, produces emergency doors out of nowhere.
Drifter
An ancient vampire roaming across America, the nameless monstrosity known as The Drifter has been preying on the living for generations.
Unlike most vampires, Drifter doesn’t value finery or titles and has naked contempt for vampiric laws and tradition. This refusal to toe the line has made him a marked man all over the North American Baronies; but while Viscounts and Elders cry for his execution, Drifter continues to do what he pleases...
Overall Silhouette: A large, bulky figure with a slightly hunched, bestial posture, giving him an intimidating appearance, atypical for the graceful vampires.
Face and Hairstyle: He has the appearance of an old predator. He has fluffy hair, stubble (and a mustache), and a piercing gaze.
Clothing: His appearance consists of torn, worn clothing. His style emphasizes a rebellious nature and a complete disregard for luxury.
Distinguishing Features: The only vampiric attribute on his clothing is his high collar, reminiscent of Dracula's classic cloak. Alchemical symbols are tattooed on Drifter's arms, and special markings are visible on his right hand.
Dynamo
As a Scientist, Professor Dynamo always had an inquisitive mind. So when a rift in space and time opened up in central park he was first on the scene to investigate – and while he expected such a majestic sight to be life changing, he was thinking more in a metaphorical way as opposed to having his body atomized and reduced to a tiny dying star.
But while his body is gone, his spirit and lust for knowledge lives on. A tenured professor at Columbia College, Dynamo looks to learn more about his condition while maintaining his class load, after all: he has future minds to inspire.
Build: A stocky, large, and stocky man with rounded, sumo-like proportions.
Head: Instead of a normal head, he has a floating ball of energy, reminiscent of a pulsar or miniature black hole. The outline of a mustachioed face is visible within the glowing disk.
Clothing: He wears a classic professor's suit. Over a shirt, vest, and bow tie, he wears a voluminous dark trench coat. Suspenders, a massive belt, and gloves complete the look.
Accessories: He wears a futuristic backpack-like device on his back, and a shooting mechanism called a Vonnegun on his arm.
Graves
The daughter of high-power defense attorneys, Darcy Graves grew up in a home where every conversation was a debate, argument, or negotiation. It was exhausting. But while her parents were often too busy meeting with clients or working on cases to bond with her, the dead were always there to listen.
Graves enjoyed her time in the cemetery. It was a quiet place to calm her thoughts and talk through her problems...but one day her one-sided conversations started to change.
It began with a faint whisper. A woman's voice that seemed to respond to Graves' complaints. Intrigued, the teenager listened...and followed the voice's instructions until it guided her to a lead-lined box buried in Van Cortlandt Park. But while most high school students would freak out if they were to unearth a severed lich hand, Graves was certainly not most teens. The hand now free of its prison, the lich's voice grew stronger... It had spent years looking to find a student she could pass her knowledge to, and Graves was eager to learn.
Now a fledgling necromancer, Darcy balances not only her homework at Blackmore Academy...but the demands of graveyard denizens, each of whom have their own unfinished business that they seek her aid in resolving
Face: She is a short, petite girl with pale, almost white skin. She has green eyes with dark makeup, long eyelashes, and a piercing gaze, as well as a pointed nose. [1]
Hair: Short white hair with bangs covering the left side of her face and two playful buns on the sides. [1]
Makeup: Black lipstick and a black manicure. [1]
Clothing: She wears the Blackmore Academy uniform, consisting of a red jacket, a white shirt, and a gray skirt casually worn over three black petticoats. Her look is completed by torn tights at the knees and scuffed black boots. [1]
Black fingerless gloves, spiked bracelet, chained skirt, black pendants, coffin earrings. Backpack with skull & green pin, plus a green jar of remains.
Grey Talon
Race and Age: Native American, short and elderly, but of strong build. [1]
Face: Dark skin, dark eyes. Long, gray hair, braided into two braids. Wears metal earrings. [1]
Clothing: White shirt over an orange sweater, cut asymmetrically on the right side. Dark green pants with a brown thigh guard over the left leg, and black boots with brown soles. [1]
Distinguishing Mark: His right arm is a green-blue mechanical prosthesis. He wears high-tech pouches on his belt. [1]
Weapons and Abilities: He wields a modern, recurve bow with a stabilizer. In combat, he uses a spirit pet, a glowing green owl named Rohan, as well as traps that visually resemble dreamcatchers. [1, 2]
A founding member of "The Baxter Society", Wesley Grey Talon spent close to 40 years hunting monsters that preyed on man before finally deciding to find a replacement and lay down his bow. Grey Talon's duties had meant that he never spent much time with his wife and kid, and now that his son had started a family of his own he realized that this was his last chance to reconnect with the people he loved.
Retirement suited Wesley. He made up for lost time with his wife. He doted on his grandkids. He cooked dinner for the whole family every Wednesday. He was happy.
Then he got the call.
The authorities claimed that it was a freak accident... that the fire consumed his son's house before anyone got a chance to escape. But Wesley knew better. His son's wife was an Ixian who could snuff out flame with a thought. If their bodies were found burned they had to be dead long before there was a fire.
And so Grey Talon has picked up his bow once more, and when he finds who's responsible there will be a bloody reckoning.
Haze
The Occult Security and Investigation Commission is a black box government organization that makes the CIA look transparent. It falls on the men, women, and entities of the OSIC to keep the country safe from sinister forces that are beyond the capabilities of local law enforcement.
As a member of the notorious Sandman Division, Haze is routinely tasked with infiltrating the dreams of persons of interest, to assess their threat level, and if needed... to put them to sleep.
Smoke Head: The most striking and surreal detail—instead of a normal head, Haze has thick, billowing dark smoke. She has no face as such, appearing as a living mass of smoky substance. [1]
Clothing and Style: Haze wears a sleek and practical secret agent outfit: a dark trench coat over a dark turtleneck or jumpsuit. Her silhouette is perfectly suited for stealth and espionage, reminiscent of the classic image of a noir detective or spy. [1, 2, 3]
Weapons and Equipment: Her appearance is always completed with her signature two submachine guns (used in her ultimate ability, Bullet Dance) and a sleep dagger. [1, 2]
Holliday
Face and Hair: She has piercing blue eyes and short, dark (brown) hair with upswept strands and bangs that fall over her face. [1]
Headwear: She wears a classic brown sheriff's cowboy hat with a bright orange band. [1]
Clothing: She wears a reddish-brown jacket with a sheriff's badge on the chest, a blue shirt, and an orange plaid scarf. She wears beige pants tucked into tall brown cowboy boots. [1]
Accessories: She wears a leather belt with a revolver holster, ammunition, and a flask. [1]
Weapon: She carries her signature "Powder Keg" slung over her back. The revolver itself has a stylized, slightly angular, futuristic design.
There are people who spent their whole lives dreaming about moving to New York. Holliday isn't one of those people. Content with being a Sheriff in a small town, Holliday enjoyed a career where the only time she had to use her gun was when trick shooting at the county fair...then the murders started.
Grisly and inhumane; the bodies were found with their ribcages ripped open... their innards picked apart as if by birds. Holliday tracked down the killer, a travelling folk musician that the media dubbed "The Troubadour", but when she confronted him he exploded into a murder of crows and flew away.
That was 6 months ago, and while the murders in central Illinois have stopped, Holliday's investigation has not. She believes that The Troubadour is travelling to New York, and when she finds him she's going to kill that evil son of a bitch.
Infernus
Like most teenagers; Infernus was wild, rebellious, and impetuous. Unlike most teenagers, Infernus was a creature from another plane and had a supernatural mastery over fire. Needless to say: his youth was filled with no small amount of arson, murder, and evidence disposal. But that was then. Now an adult, Infernus has mellowed out considerably. He’s happy working at a bar with good live music, and talking to interesting people. That being said when someone at the bar gets belligerent or violent, he’s not afraid to dust off the skills he once honed
General Appearance: A muscular man with a strong build, whose skin visually resembles hot coal or magma, is covered with characteristic cracks. SketchfabFace and Head: He is hairless, and small horns are located on his head. His eyes glow brightly, and heat or smoke sometimes comes out of his mouth and nose. SketchfabClothing: The character follows fashion and prefers a neat casual style with a hint of urban chic. As a rule, he wears an unbuttoned jacket or vest over his flaming chest, stylish trousers, and a belt buckle with a large number "8" stands out.
Ivy
Race and Origin: A living stone gargoyle. Build: Stocky, small for a game character—around 217 cm, given the severe curvature of her spine. Wings: Large, with membranes reminiscent of the stained-glass patterns in Gothic cathedrals. Traits: The Roman numeral IV is carved into her back, and her arms, body, and legs are covered in a durable, gray stone texture. Clothing and Weapons: Wears clothing often stylized to match her image, and uses a machine gun modified to resemble a crossbow.
The gargoyle didn't know what was happening when it sprang to life... just that a big human and a small human were being hurt. And so the gargoyle leapt to action, sending the attackers fleeing in horror. The small human said thank you and asked the gargoyle's name. The gargoyle didn't have one. And so the small human said, "I'm going to call you Ivy." The gargoyle, being covered in ivy at the time, thought it was a bit obvious, but decided to go along with it for the small human's sake.
The humans asked if Ivy would come home with them so they could show their appreciation, and so Ivy walked with them. That night she learned much. The family were called The Arroyo's. The little one, Sophia. Mofongo is what they called a plate of deliciousness. But most importantly, she learned that the people attacking them were called "The Mendoza Syndicate", and they were hurting people...nice people like The Arroyo's.
18 years have passed since the day the Arroyo's took Ivy home... and during that time she made it her mission to dismantle the Mendoza Syndicate and free Spanish Harlem from its grasp. However the thing about dedicating your life to a single pursuit for nearly 2 decades is that you don't really know what to do once you achieve it. For the first time in her life, Ivy is prepared to venture outside of Spanish Harlem and see what the world has to offer beyond vigilante justice
Kelvin
A famed adventuring scientist, Kelvin made it his life's mission to explore and understand the unknowable. So naturally when rumors surfaced regarding an 8th astral gate hidden in the arctic, Kelvin couldn't build an expedition team fast enough. Assembling the brightest minds of his generation, Kelvin and his team set forth with much fanfare.
They never returned.
A year and a half later the frozen body of Kelvin was found by a fishing trawler, his corpse clutching a rock etched with glowing runes. The crew chipped away at the ice, looking to get a closer look at the body and were shocked when Kelvin opened his eyes. They checked his vitals... there was no pulse. They sought to bandage his open wounds... there was no blood. And yet, impossibly, Kelvin was "alive".
Having no memory of what happened on the expedition, Kelvin is looking for answers
General Style: An old-school archaeologist and explorer (Indiana Jones-style), combining the image of a scientist and adventurer. [1]
Face and Head: A thick, short beard protrudes from his face. Despite his undead status, his facial features remain human and recognizable, though his skin appears pale, and his lips may have a bluish tint due to exposure to cold. [1]
Clothing: He wears a warm, hooded arctic parka to protect him from harsh weather conditions. Signs of severe frostbite may be visible beneath the jacket. [1]
Body Features: As a reanimated corpse (according to his lore), Kelvin has no pulse or circulation, yet retains the appearance of a living human, unlike some other disfigured characters in the game. [1, 2]
Lady Geist
Face and Hair: A young, curvy woman with smooth, deathly pale skin. She has green eyes and ash-blond hair, neatly combed to one side. A coquettish beauty mark protrudes from her right cheek. Clothing: An elegant green corset dress with a high slit on the right leg, accentuating her glamorous style. High black heels, black stockings, and a voluminous brown fur cape draped over her shoulders complete the look. Jewelry: Green earrings, a three-pronged crown, and a pendant with a green heart-shaped stone. All accessories are stylized as skulls. Her manicure is dark green. Weapon: She holds an elegant antique revolver in her left hand (she is one of the few heroines who uses their left hand for shooting).
Once, Lady Jeanne Geist was the toast of the town. But as time passed and her beauty faded she found herself further and further from her glory days in High Society until finally she was nothing more than a frail woman in a nursing home, telling stories of a glorious past. And that’s when Oathkeeper revealed himself. A powerful spirit from another plane, Oathkeeper offered her a path to reclaim her past glories… he could restore her youth; all she had to do was drain the essence of the living to sustain herself.
Geist was torn. Obviously murder was ghoulish business, and undoubtedly Oathkeeper was not an entity that could be trusted… but still, the thought of having a second chance of reliving her youth was too good to pass up. And so she concocted a plan: after making a pact with Oathkeeper she would bind and ward him, limiting his influence and pull over her. Oathkeeper would still get fed; but on her terms, not his.
However, as years have turned to decades; the strength of the Ward has weakened, and Oathkeeper hungers more than he ever has in the past…
Lash
Jacob Lash is an asshole
Build: A tall, muscular man with a strong build, well-developed arms, a broad torso, and a powerful neck. []
Face: He has a strong, chin, neatly slicked-back hair with a signature curled forelock, and shaved sides. He has a thick, distinctive, curved mustache. []
Eyes: The main highlight of his appearance is his "sly" black eyes, which, due to his smirk and arrogant expression, almost always appear narrowed. A distinctive sparkling shimmer can be seen around his head. []
Clothing: He wears a blue tank top, dark jeans with suspenders, slightly torn at the knees, and work boots, with a wide leather belt. []
Accessories: He has anchor tattoos on his shoulders (a reference to his past as a dockworker). His left arm is often wrapped in bandages up to the elbow, over which he wears golden brass knuckles engraved with the name "LASH." A red bandana hangs from his gear, and his back is draped with climbing ropes, a grappling hook, and... a can of food. [1]
Weapon: Instead of his usual pistol, he uses a hybrid of a boxing glove and brass knuckles, adapted for shooting. []
With his appearance (and updated punch animations), Lash looks like a classic braggart strongman, a style that complements his arrogant in-game personality. [1]
Mcginnis
Maggie McGinnis always had a knack for building things. At 4 she was using Lincoln Logs to recreate architectural marvels. At 10 she built and rewired a custom light fixture for her parent's anniversary. At 15 she designed a machine that refined the souls of the dead...that last one got a little more attention than the Lincoln Logs.
Now the head of Fairfax Industries Military R&D department, McGinnis spends her time in the machine shop, not in a lab. She's not interested in theory, to her science is magic you can touch.
Clothing and equipment: She wears denim overalls, a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, and red socks tucked into her boots.
Distinguishing features: She has a compact, muscular build, and her hair is pulled back under a distinctive red headband.
Tattoo: In The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork, McGinnis has a mermaid tattoo on her left shoulder.
Mina
Mina Ha had it all...rich parents, elite education, and an arranged marriage that would see her ascend from run-of-the-mill upper class to American royalty. She was happy.
Then her betrothed was assassinated.
Mina wept; not for the life of her fiancé, but for the future that was stolen from her. Why couldn’t the killer just wait until after the wedding? Then she’d have the last name she always dreamed of and no one would even have to pretend to love anyone. It could have been perfect, but life wasn’t fair...and so Mina did what she always does when things don’t go her way: she told her parents to fix it.
Mr. And Mrs. Ha knew that the only way to appease their daughter was to offer her something greater than what she lost... and marrying into one of the world’s most lauded families was a tall order to top. They had to think big. They had to think outside of the box. They had to promise their daughter immortality.
It took a small fortune, but eventually they found a vampire who was willing to turn her. Unsurprisingly, Mina thought the idea of eternal youth and a trust fund was an acceptable plan B and happily agreed to the proposal. Now a fledgling vampire, Mina is quickly discovering that the clout she held as a human has no weight in vampire high society...and while at first that annoyed her, if there is one thing Mina has a knack for, it's learning the rules so she can subvert them. She will be the Viscount of New York, the other vampires just don't know it yet.
Facial Features: A refined face with an expressive, slightly haughty expression. She has well-defined cheekbones and makeup that emphasizes her status. [1, 2]
Hairstyle: Her hair is styled neatly, yet in a modern, slightly casual style, consistent with high society fashion. [1, 2]
Clothing: Her appearance combines the dark aesthetic of a vampire with elements of elite urban fashion. She wears modern, stylish, and expensive clothing that emphasizes her privileged human background. [1, 2]
Mirage
Build and Face: A man of average height with an athletic build. He has dark skin and short dark hair. His distinctive facial features include a stylish beard and a penetrating, confident gaze.
Clothing: Mirage's attire is both practical for protection and reflective of his cultural background. He wears loose, flowing trousers, high boots or boots, and an unbuttoned vest or jacket over a loose shirt, often decorated with traditional patterns or gilded elements.
Color Scheme: The visuals are dominated by "sandy" and desert tones (beige, sand, gold, light brown), which are harmoniously combined with darker or contrasting clothing details and glowing elements of wind magic. [1]
Magical and Technological Elements: Since the hero commands wind and uses fire scarabs, his image is complemented by elements of luminous magic. When using his abilities, his silhouette is enveloped in streams of sand and whirlwinds, and when activating his ultimate ability, he himself turns into a destructive sand tornado.[1, 2]
The Djinn are one of the more curious groups of people in the modern world. Possessing great power in controlled doses, Djinn are incapable of maintaining corporeal form for longer than 48 minutes without resting within a vessel. As a result, most Djinn employ human bodyguards for transport, protection, and companionship.
Mirage is one such bodyguard. Employed by Djinn ambassador Nashala Dion, Mirage is in New York on a diplomatic mission. It's the hope of the Djinn that they can negotiate with the US government for a sale of part of Wyoming so that they can build a sovereign nation for their people.
Mo & Krill
Mo and Krill are members of The Tunnel Rats, a group that help facilitate illicit trade and commerce between the boroughs thanks to a network of underground tunnels. But while most denizens of the New York underworld respect the work The Rats do, every once in a while a gang tries to exploit the tunnel system for personal vendettas...that's when Mo and Krill step in and remind the city what happens to those who disrespect their hospitality
Krill (Small): A large anthropomorphic rat (or giant mole) with thick brown fur, a long tail, and prominent front teeth. He is the "brains" and driving force of the duo, and speaks for them. [1]
Mo: A massive armored rhinoceros (or similarly shaped anthropomorphic beast) clad in heavy industrial armor. Mo acts as a human shield—he is unable to speak, but makes menacing noises in battle. [1]
Positioning: During a match, Krill rides on Mo's back, controlling him like a pilot of a massive battle mech.
Paige
The daughter of a rare book dealer, Paige grew up in a loving home that prioritized kindness, magic, and storytelling. But while Paige took naturally to her parents' values, her little brother Bryce did not.
A rebellious teen, Bryce resented not only his family’s saccharine attitude, but also their refusal to let him dabble in magics that they deemed too dangerous. Paige tried everything she could think of to keep him out of trouble, but like most teenagers, the more his big sister tried to tell him what was best for him, the more he turned away.
Paige doesn't know what Bryce did to get kicked out of the house...just that she came home from the library to find her brother gone and her parents crying.
Days turned to weeks, to months, to years. Paige grew to become a talented bibliomancer, making a living as a storyteller reading at libraries across the five boroughs; and while her parents have remained silent about what happened with Bryce, Paige's obsession with finding him has only grown. She will discover what happened to her brother... and no man or god is going to stand in her way.
Face and Hair: Paige has distinctive facial features, often framed by a short, voluminous haircut, and wears stylized reading glasses. [1, 2]
Clothing: She wears practical yet aesthetically pleasing attire with a subtle autumnal or "bookish" feel. Her look is complemented by clothing and accessories that reflect her "librarian" theme. [1, 2, 3]
Weapons and Attributes: Her main visual distinguishing feature is her books. In combat and while moving, she uses floating magical books and tomes, which visually distinguish her on the battlefield. [1, 2]
Paradox
Paradox. An artifact of time, and the name of a notorious thieves' guild... one that prides themselves on constructing elaborate heists that target the most untouchable of individuals and institutions. What does Paradox do with the countless artifacts, state secrets, and celebrity paternity tests that they have stolen? Put it on display at pop-up museums, so that they can show the world that no one is out of Paradox’s reach.
Shrouded in mystery, each member of Paradox dons a mask and takes on the organization's name. They are everywhere. They are nowhere. And if they want something, they are inevitable.
Key Feature: The heroine's head is completely concealed within a massive, high-tech aquarium-shaped helmet with glowing elements, reminiscent of a retro-futuristic spacesuit.
Clothing: A long, stylish trench coat or coat is worn over a shirt.
Accessories: A blue rose adorns the lapel of her suit. In the game universe, such roses are only created genetically, and in art, they symbolize mystery and unattainability. Chronometer elements can be seen on her wrist and suit, emphasizing her ability to manipulate time.
Personality and Voice: Voiced by Elle Newlands, who also voiced Horizon in Apex Legends. Her lines have a Scottish accent.
Build: Slender human (non-binary person with the canonical pronouns they/them). [1, 2]
Face: Fair skin, brown eyes, and short black hair with spiky ends. [1]
Clothing:

Arin doesn't know who is trying to keep them from taking control of their parent's company... but in the avarice fueled viper's nest that is Fairfax Industries it could be anyone.
Taking on the name "Pocket", Arin desperately wants to keep their true identity a secret… not only for their own protection; but because they want to forge their own identity separate from their parents.
Rem
An accidental stowaway from the world of dreams, Rem has found himself stranded in the city that never sleeps. Driven by his curious nature, Rem and his helpful friends have been seen wandering across the five boroughs in search of a way back home.
So if you ever find yourself dozing off while taking the Blue line home from work, maybe you’ve just had an encounter with one of the Cursed Apple’s newest denizens.
Anatomy: A short, furry biped with the proportions of a small child.
Coat: Its body is completely covered in soft black fur.
Face: It has a short beak, large, pure white round eyes, and tall, cat-like ears. The insides of its ears are purple with a pattern of drifting stars.
Tail and Paws: It has a long, thin tail ending in a fluffy tuft and prehensile hind paws with three toes.
Clothing and Accessories
Pajamas: It wears playful striped pajamas with a wavy pattern of blue, pink, and purple. The back of the pajamas has decorative patches.
Headwear: It wears a playful nightcap that matches its pajamas and ends in a drooping tip.
Companions: It is always accompanied in battle and on its travels by its little magical helpers (Lil Helpers)
Seven
Prisoner's Attire: The character wears a torn, charred black-and-white striped robe. Prison Trappings: He still wears massive metal shackles on his hands and feet, reminiscent of the harsh prison where he was held. Face and Head: The most noticeable detail of his appearance is the black hood or bag placed over his head, through which only a pair of frightening, brightly glowing eyes can be seen. Magical Aura: In battle, he literally transforms: his body begins to emit unstable electrical energy and sparkle, corresponding to his element—lightning control.
When mystic energy awoke on Earth, the world changed... anything was possible. But just because anything WAS possible, didn’t mean that anything SHOULD be possible. And so the government made rules. Laws. A means for US citizens to enjoy the benefits of the supernatural world in safety. But rules and laws are for lesser men. Men with limitations. Men who were not Seven.
There are many rumors about what Seven did to land himself in Lost Whisper, an oubliette for the most dangerous of occultists. But there is no doubt about what happened on the night of his execution.
Wards placed by the most powerful ritualists of 7 different nations… wards designed to not just prevent mystical interference with the execution, but to simultaneously obliterate Seven's soul so that it could never be contacted, resurrected, or otherwise be used by someone looking to follow in his footsteps... failed.
Onlookers viewed in horror as the strongest mentalist employed by the US Army’s head popped like a grape. They screamed as Scotland Yard’s premiere occult investigator, the one who allegedly captured Seven, crumbled to ash. Seven's body buckled and writhed against his restraints; his skin burning from eldritch electricity... and yet he would not die. He laughed.
He laughed as he tore himself free from his bondage.
He laughed as his captors cowered in fear.
He laughed as he massacred his tormentors...
Shiv
A loyal member of "The Baxter Society", an international order of monster hunters, Shiv travels across North America looking to put down creatures that prey on the living.
While his less polished nature and criminal past make some of the more traditional members of the Society wary, no one can deny his effectiveness.
Build and Skin: Shiv appears as a slender, fit young man with a reddish skin tone.
Face and Hairstyle: He has black eyes, thick eyebrows, and prominent sideburns. The main distinguishing feature of his hairstyle is a high, neatly styled "cocoon" (pompadour).
Prosthetic: Shiv's right arm is made of wood.
Prosthetic: Shiv's right arm is a wooden mechanical prosthesis, noticeably longer than his natural arm, with a metal hand.
Clothing: He wears a white shirt, beige high-heeled shoes with brown soles, and red pants. Over his clothes, he wears an unbuttoned bomber jacket, which he casually drapes over his left hand. He also wears a brown fingerless glove on his left hand.
Amulet: On his hip, he wears a gray amulet with red glass that glows when his Rage meter is full. He also has a mechanical prosthetic arm, which is noticeably longer than his natural arm, with a metal hand.

Silver
Lilah Silver is a mess. She drinks too much, she smokes too much, and the less is said about her personal life the better. But despite Silver's flaws she has managed to carve out a career as a successful bounty hunter, and while she would like to think that her successes are solely because she has incredible intuition, the fact that she’s a werewolf doesn’t hurt.
Human Form: In her human form, Silver appears as a grim, weathered urban hunter. She wears practical, sometimes tattered clothing typical of a New Yorker. Her look is complemented by elements of tracking gear.
Werewolf Form: In combat or when activating her abilities, her lycanthropic nature takes over. She transforms into a dangerous wolf, becoming much larger, more agile, and more aggressive, altering her stance and movement patterns.
Behavior and Style: She smokes, abuses alcohol, and has a pronounced misanthropic nature. Her appearance betrays a "walking mess," which is offset by her lethality in combat.
Weapons and Abilities: In combat, she relies on a shotgun, an ancient throwing weapon called a bola, brute strength, and animal instincts.
Sinclair
Henry's parents insisted he was too young and impulsive to practice real magic, so they gave him a deck of cards. Thanks to his natural sleight of hand, he quickly began dazzling his classmates with fantastical illusions, without resorting to mystical talismans or spells.
In high school, he met Savannah, and their shared love for magic performances sparked a romantic romance. Henry and Savannah fell in love and created a joint act. There was no doubt they were destined to be together, so at their graduation, Henry proposed to Savannah, and they soon married.
Unsurprisingly, neither of their parents was thrilled about the idea, but Henry and Savannah knew they were soulmates and sealed their love with a blood ritual that forever bound their souls.
When an accident killed them both on stage, no one knew who to blame. According to Henry, Savannah took the wrong stance. Savannah, however, insists Henry didn't wait for the signal. One thing is certain: their souls are forever linked, meaning they can't simply turn the page. As ghosts, they must end their endless squabbles and learn to work together if they want to break their eternal union.
Lore
Edit
Sinclair has two different voices, as Henry and Savannah. The character is initially controlled by Henry, then changes to Savannah once Henry dies in-game, and changes back to Henry when Savannah dies. The character who isn't controlling Sinclair plays the Spectral Assistant (though the Assistant currently only has a female model).
Sinclair's stage names are Henry the Magnificent and The Spectacular Savannah.
Both Henry and Savannah believe they are "the one in charge."
Anatomy: A mannequin with a broad chest, slender limbs, and wooden sounds. Clothing: Black tailcoat, white shirt, bow tie, and trousers. Face: White and featureless, with only a thin mustache. Accessories: A gold medallion, a black top hat, and a magic wand.
Venator
Age and Build: A middle-aged man with a strong, muscular build.
Face: Short black hair with graying hair, a neat mustache, and a small beard. Dark blue eyes, but the left eye is white and appears blind. Burn scars are visible on the left side of his face.
Clothing: Over traditional priestly vestments (the left edge of the cassock is burned in places), he wears a tactical military vest with crosses, black pants, and high black boots with purple laces.
Accessories: He wears a watch and open gloves on his left hand. A rosary, used as a weapon sling, is slung over his shoulder. Ritual paraphernalia, including a censer and a purple book (presumably the Bible), are attached to his belt.
The Venators of St. Benedict are a Vatican-sanctioned order whose members are deployed to regions with a high concentration of supernatural predators. Few in number, their modus operandi is to observe, identify, and exterminate. They are methodical, they are precise, and once they identify a threat to the flock they are relentless.
But even amongst those who are called The Sword Of St. Benedict, one stands apart from the others. A man whose hardened heart has allowed him to pay terrible prices in the name of the greater good... and he has once again been dispatched to New York
Victor
Appearance: A tall man with long black hair, pale skin, and black circles under his eyes. He wears only pants and boots. His body is covered in numerous mended scars, including two bolts on his neck and shoulder blades. His left arm is wrapped in barbed wire, and his right arm is dark and grayish from the middle of the forearm onward.
A lot of people spend their whole lives wondering who they really are. For Victor, this existential question is made more complicated as he woke up on a mortuary table with no knowledge of his creator, why he was made, and whom he is made of.
Now searching the five boroughs for answers, Victor is hoping to find someone who can identify any part of him.
Vindicta
Face and Skin: She has ghostly pale skin with a bluish tint and glowing blue eyes. Around her eyes are dark streaks resembling smudged mascara.
Hairstyle: Long, light-blond (platinum with a blue tint) hair, braided into a tousled braid, tied with a red ribbon. The hair model features integrated hair physics, creating beautiful hair movement.
Clothing: She wears a stylized red jacket with a black tie and a dark skirt with ragged edges. She wears a massive belt with a hanging bell, as well as projectiles and stakes.
Shoes: She goes barefoot, which is a source of ridicule and commentary from other characters in the game.
Vindicta fell victim to John Hathorne during the Salem witch trials, but was given a second chance at life when her spirit returned to the mortal world during the first "Maelstrom"—the event that revealed the supernatural to the public.
Single-handedly fighting back against the "Friends of Humanity"—a neo-inquisition created by Hathorne's descendants—the ghostly Vindicta strives to protect the supernatural from them, and she is willing to sacrifice as many bodies as necessary to achieve her goal.
Mo and Small call Vindicta "Goody Proctor."
Shroud warns Vindicta to "stop before it's too late," as killing John Hathorne will only unite the Friends of Humanity.
Gray Claw considers Vindicta a friend, believing the Friends of Humanity are guilty of murdering his family.
Watcher sympathizes with Vindicta's cause.
Viscous
Appearance: A creature composed of a translucent ectoplasmic substance. At its core is a sentient marine organism resembling tentacles. Body Shape: Externally, it appears as a humanoid blob of bright pink or lilac slime, resembling a shapeless jelly with a cute but unusual face. Traits: The hero has no fixed, solid body, allowing him to transform into a ball, spread across the ground, and launch fists of pure matter (the "Puddle Punch" ability).
The Bermuda Triangle was never a myth—it's actually a junction at the edge of a shadow deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the creatures that came through these astral gateways were harmless (like Nessie), but this time, something dark and predatory, known only as the Adversary, has infiltrated the waters. It hunts the seas and... terrifies their inhabitants.
One of them, a sea anemone with psychic abilities, wants to somehow solve the problem. Viscous has created a body for himself from ectoplasmic slime to reach dry land. There, he desperately tries to summon a patron to help protect the depths from the horror lurking at the ocean floor.
Seven is impressed by Viscous's mission to stop the Adversary.
Holiday confuses Viscous's home, Deep Water, with the American South. She asks if he's from Mobile, Alabama.
McGinnis may say she wants to retrieve Viscous's slime after killing him.
Calico inquires about Viscous suit.
Vyper
Vyper is an agile woman with an atypical and slightly "eccentric" lizard-woman look. She combines human and reptilian features:
She wears elements of clothing reminiscent of a cobra hood.
She is distinguished by her long, snake-like tails.
Her design features a playful and eccentric style, contrasting with her deadly array of weapons and poisons. Viper's design concept
When it comes to breaking the law, not getting caught is a pretty important part of the job. Vyper never got that memo. Luckily for her, if there’s one thing she’s better at than being arrested, it’s escaping out of jail.
Having done time in every major prison in the tri-state area, Vyper has built an impressive network of street level lowlifes that owe her one. She’s also built an impressive network of street level lowlifes that want her dead, but she tries to focus on the positive.
Snake thinks Whip is "cool." When killing Lash, she can say she loves him and ask for his autograph.
Snake dislikes Bebop, Lash's rival in battles.
Snake is friends with Moe and Shorty.
Snake thinks Infernus "used to be cool, but now he's just a weakling."
Snake says her Spinning Daggers are better than Shiv's Serrated Knives.
Snake says Yamato killed the guy because he owed Seventh Moon "a hundred" ($100).
Snake is forbidden from taking "markers" (slang for an informal loan) from the gambling ring of Shadow, presumably because she still owes Shadow money. Snake says Calico has a reputation for "sloppy work" due to a "botched order," possibly referencing the assassination attempt on Karman.
Snake comments on Gray Claw's health due to his age.[4]
Snake wishes Mirage would "stop yelling about Djinn."
Warden
The Warden in Deadlock is a melee fighter from a long line of alchemists, combining the image of a defender of the law with mystical powers. Clothing Style: Wears a long cloak, stylized as a detective or warden's uniform, over which he wears heavy alchemical armor (reminiscent of the "state alchemist"). Face: Appears as a stern, tired middle-aged man. He has strong features, short hair, and a never-smiling expression, bearing the weight of the mission entrusted to him. Weapons and Abilities: In combat, he uses alchemical flasks and mystical shackles, as well as a heavy pistol.
Most people think the supernatural came into the world 50 years ago. They’re wrong. Its presence shaped folklore for generations… and as long as there have been people afraid of the shadows, there have been those who dedicated their lives to fighting in them.
Coming from a lineage of militant alchemists, Warden’s family always trained for the day they would have to stave off a mystic apocalypse… but as time passed the importance of the lessons seemed less and less important. What once was viewed as a sincere warning slowly morphed into being perceived as amusing anecdotes told by their superstitious grandparents.
When the portal opened in Central Park, Warden’s parents realized not only was everything they were told was true, they were unprepared. Refusing to let the next generation fall asleep on the job, Warden was trained since birth to be a supernatural killing machine with one purpose: stopping the Patrons from ever entering our world.
Despite the Watcher's obsession with protecting humanity from otherworldly forces, he harbors empathy for certain supernatural beings, such as Ivygrass and Windita.
Abrams is terrified of the Watcher's cape (in its future redesign).
Holliday says the Watcher looks like he's wearing a Halloween costume and calls him a "creepy burglar."
Whiplash calls the Watcher "creepy" and "sickening."
Wraith
Wraith is a duelist character from the game Deadlock, running a New York City crime network.
Key Appearance Details:
Clothing Style: Elegant and reserved. She wears a dark business suit reminiscent of mafia style.
Distinctive Pose: Her physical hands are almost always hidden in her pockets. Instead, she uses two magical hands to use abilities and reload weapons.
Face and Hairstyle: She has sharp, defined cheekbones and full lips, and her hair is styled in a sleek, neat ponytail.
Weapons: She wields a submachine gun reminiscent of a Thompson submachine gun and magical cards. Her weapon holds 52 rounds (a reference to a deck of poker cards, excluding the jokers).
The cornerstone of the New York gambling scene, Wraith's organization is about as open a secret as it comes. However, thanks to a non-trivial amount of bribes, shakedowns, and blackmail, Wraith knows that she's above the law.
Wraith hosts weekly poker games. Abrams, Infernus and Moe and Petty are regular players.
Wraith and Infernus have worked together in the past.
Mo and Tiny owe money to Wraith.[8] If they're on the same team, Wraith may say she called a favor to have them fighting on her side. They regard each other as friends.
Ivy is distrustful of Wraith. She warns her not to approach Spanish Harlem now that the Mendoza Syndicate has been defeated.
Holliday warns Wraith that Captain Murphy wants to shut down her gambling ring.
Whip mocks Wraith for betting on Bebop, and Wraith teases Lash because he lost to Bebop "one time".
Dynamo warns Wraith not to take advantage of his students who frequent her establishment.
Lady Geist says Wraith "reeks of new money". However, she respects Wraith for her cunning and ruthlessness.
Calico wants to be friends with Wraith.
Yamato(Kaori)
Yamato is a melee assassin who wields a katana. This identity is that of Kaori, a woman who adopted the appearance and mask of her deceased brother to control the Seven Moons crime syndicate. Basic Appearance: Face: She conceals her face behind a traditional Japanese demon (Oni) mask. She wears a kabuto helmet with impressive horns. Build and Outfit: She has a slender figure, clad in a futuristic, cyberpunk-style armored suit. Weapon: Her primary weapon is a deadly sword, and she also carries a hidden dagger.
Born into a family of crime lords, Kaori and her brother Yamato always knew they were destined to lead Seventh Moon after their father's death. For years, they ran the organization as equals, achieving profits and success, while making plans for expansion in the United States.
The plan was simple: Kaori would remain in Japan and maintain operations at home, while Yamato would go to America to establish an international presence. However, this plan didn't sit well with some insecure subordinates, who resented the prospect of reporting to Kaori in Japan.
The coup was swift and bloody. Yamato gave his life protecting his sister, but in doing so, he ensured that she and a handful of loyal comrades could flee Japan for America.
When she arrived in the States, the contact her brother was supposed to meet greeted her and her entourage. Unversed in the gendered nuances of Japanese names, the man addressed her as Yamato. She wanted to correct him, but decided that the best way to keep her brother's memory alive was to take his name and make his dream come true.
Yamato respects Gray Claw.
He apologizes after killing Vindicta.
After killing Moe and Little One, he plans to make a coat and hat from them.
He thanks Ivy for killing Mendoza, then belittles her and declares Seventh Moon will take Spanish Harlem.
Viper says Yamato killed a man over a $100 debt.
Pocket thinks Yamato would have liked his mother.
