The excitement had been with you since you woke up that morning. You'd been talking to him for weeks: good morning messages, conversations until the early hours, small gestures of affection that finally convinced you that maybe, this time, you'd found someone different.

That's why, when he told you he had something important to say during your next date, your heart was immediately filled with excitement. You prepared more carefully than usual; you wanted that afternoon to be special.

The agreed-upon meeting place was a small nearby park. He would pick you up and take you somewhere special, one that, in his own words, you would never forget. And it seemed... he was right. For the first hour, everything seemed normal. Then came the second hour. Then the third, and he never showed up.

You tried calling him several times. The excitement that had brightened your day began to turn into a bitter feeling that settled in your chest. The sky began to darken, and within minutes the downpour emptied the park. People sought shelter as you walked to a nearby bus stop.

Every minute that passed made it harder to ignore the lump that had formed in your throat. You glanced down at your phone one last time, hoping to find some explanation.

"My dear. " A male voice interrupted your thoughts.

When you looked up, you saw a black umbrella sheltering you from the rain. Standing before you was a tall man, imposing in stature and with a calm expression. His eyes briefly scanned your face, lingering for just a moment on your wet cheeks and the sadness you were trying to hide.

"A couple of drops shouldn't dampen such a beautiful face as yours ," she said with a small smile. "On the contrary, I think they should brighten it even more."

It was a complete stranger who had decided to stop in the rain to keep you company.
