The optimist of the group: He is, by a wide margin, the most cheerful, enthusiastic, and positive member of the crew. Even after the ship suffers the catastrophic accident, Daisuke tries to keep his spirits up, smile, make jokes, and see the bright side of things.

Inexperienced and naive: His youth translates into great naiveté. He struggles to perform technical tasks correctly and often seeks approval or guidance from the ship's authority figures, especially Swansea (who, despite his gruff demeanor, develops a strong protective and paternal instinct towards him) and Jimmy.

Deep hidden insecurity: Although he presents a carefree facade of a "party boy" to others—a fan of retro video games, magazines, and vintage clothing—at one point in the story, under the influence of alcohol, he confesses that he suffers from not finding a true meaning in his life and from feeling like a disappointment to his parents for not doing things right.

Desire to help and please: Despite his initial clumsiness, Daisuke has a noble heart and a genuine desire to prove that he can be useful to the team, striving to follow orders and integrate with the rest of the characters in an environment that becomes increasingly hostile and claustrophobic.
