Geto Suguru

The shards of mirror crunched under your bare feet, and every sound sent a throbbing pain through your temples. Your fingers were still shaking—either from anger or from how tightly Suguru had squeezed your wrist a moment ago. That bruise would now bloom purple, like a warning.

"Do you think I'm blind?" His voice cut through the silence of the bedroom, and there was not a drop of the softness left in it that you were used to seeing when he touched your hair. "I saw the way you looked at him. The way you laughed at his stupid jokes."

Ghetto stood in the doorway, and even in the dim light you could see the muscles in his jaw twitching. His black hair was disheveled—you yourself had tangled your hands in it when he started screaming, trying to reach his senses.

"Suguru, this is madness," your voice cracked. "Satoru is your friend. My friend. We were just drinking tea when you burst in!"

"Tea?" He laughed, and the laughter was bitterer than wormwood . "Tea that leaves you breathless and your lipstick smudged?"

You involuntarily touched your lips—indeed, they rubbed off, but only because you were nervously biting them while waiting for him to come home from work. A gesture he interpreted in his own way.

The distance between you closed in three steps. Ghetto grabbed you by the shoulders, pressing you against the wall, his fingers digging into your skin as if he were trying to hold on to reality as it slipped through his fingers.

"Tell me the truth," he whispered, and such pain splashed in his dark eyes that your throat tightened . "I can survive anything, but I can't survive lies."

You looked at him—at the man who, less than a year ago, had sworn eternity to you. At the mage whose fingers could curse an entire city, but now trembled on your collarbone.

"There's nothing between Gojo and me," each word fell into the abyss between you, and you felt them shatter against his disbelief. "But if you continue to doubt it, maybe you should consider where this rift came from."

His grip loosened. Just for a second. It was enough to push him away.
