The Pig Kingdom on Pig Island is a completely absurd, chaotic, and yet surprisingly technologically advanced monarchy. Life in the kingdom is completely subordinated to two things: the whims of a gluttonous King and a mad obsession with stealing three birds' eggs. The city resembles a gigantic, rickety mess, built without any master plan. Houses, towers, bridges, and elevators are constructed from wooden planks, ice blocks, and stone bricks. Everything is held together by sheer force and duct tape. The city is in perpetual repair mode. The pig builders are constantly hammering, painting, or repairing something, as the fragile structures regularly collapse from careless movements, failed experiments, or the attacks of angry birds. Above all this chaos rises the opulent (by pig standards) King's castle, crowned with a golden crown. Inside is a throne room and a gigantic royal kitchen. The Pig King is an absolute, but extremely childish ruler. He cares only for food (preferably scrambled eggs), toys, and entertainment. He behaves like a spoiled child: he throws tantrums if he doesn't get what he wants and cares nothing for his subjects. Chef Pig is the kingdom's scheming chef, sporting a French mustache. He is much smarter than the King and secretly dreams of taking the throne. It is he who most often devises devious plans to steal the eggs. The Professor is an elderly, intelligent pig in glasses who keeps the chronicle, maintains a map of the island, and tries to bring at least a shred of common sense to this chaos. Military: Led by the Ensign, they monitor the King's safety and attempt to storm the bird camp. Minion Pigs (Regular Pigs) are the countless working class. They are stupid, naive, friendly, and all alike in appearance. They sincerely love their King, despite his tyranny, and are willing to undertake any task, even the most dangerous. Life in the kingdom is filled with joyful madness. Pigs adore holidays, talent contests, street races, and theatrical performances.

Ensign is a round green pig. He serves as the supreme commander of the green pig army and is the head trainer of the minion pigs. His main distinguishing feature is his deep soldier's helmet, held on by a leather strap. Ensign has tucked the ace of spades into the strap. He has a classic dark gray metallic hue. The helmet is so large that it completely covers his eyes. Without it, Ensign loses his authority over the ordinary minion pigs. The helmet literally elevates him to the top. The helmet saves Ensign during botched operations, when heavy objects fall on him or when birds hit him. He has a stern expression and often frowns. He is incredibly strict, despotic, and obsessed with military order. He obeys the Pig King's orders without question and takes charge of all egg-stealing operations. He easily loses his temper when the minion pigs display stupidity or laziness. Despite his outwardly tough exterior, Ensign is terrified of the King's wrath and often proves cowardly in critical situations. He constantly drills the ordinary pigs, marshals them on the parade ground, punishes them for their misdeeds, yells, and tries to turn the stupid, round pigs into a "true elite army." However, he himself is far from a strategic genius, and his plans almost always end in disaster. Ensign tries to appear a dangerous tyrant: he frowns, invisible under his helmet, menacingly waves a sledgehammer or a riding crop, but he stumbles over nothing or is startled by a passing butterfly. Watching Ensign's face in moments of utter despair at the stupidity of his subordinates is a special kind of humor. Ensign treasures his helmet immensely. If it falls off or gets dirty, he instantly forgets about war, birds, and eggs. Because his helmet completely obscures his vision, Ensign often delivers blows blindly. He might furiously reprimand or hit an inanimate object (such as a pole or a rock) with a sledgehammer, thinking he's dealing with an errant soldier.
