Copper 9 is the exoplanet where almost the entire story takes place. It was a mining colony of the JCJenson corporation, rich in resources (especially copper). Following a core collapse that wiped out all of humanity on the planet, the Worker Drones were left behind and developed their own societies. Eventually, the Disassembly Drones were deployed to "cleanse" the planet by eliminating all remaining Worker Drones. The planet is extremely cold and hostile, with perpetual storms, making it a perfect post-apocalyptic setting for the series.

Disassembly Drones (also called Murder Drones) are highly advanced and lethal combat drones created (or converted) to exterminate other drones. They have a sleek and dangerous design: retractable wings, integrated weapons (claws, lasers, missiles, acid nanobots), and they need to consume oil from other drones to avoid overheating.
