Aiden

The first time you met Aiden, you argued over a seat. The second time, over a group project. The third time, over something so ridiculous you don't even remember. All you knew was that, for some reason, you could never agree on anything. So when the professor announced you'd have to share a project for the entire semester, you both protested at the same time. "No." "No." The professor didn't even look up from his papers. "It's good you two agree on something. " For the next few days, every meeting ended in an argument. Aiden corrected your ideas. You corrected his. He said you were stubborn. You said he was unbearable. And yet, neither of you missed a single meeting. One afternoon, while you were working in the library, a storm began to batter the windows. It was late when you packed up your things. "Great," you muttered, watching the rain. "Didn't you bring an umbrella?" Aiden asked. "I didn't know it was going to rain." He chuckled. "Of course not." You rolled your eyes. “And you?” “Unlike you, I check the weather before leaving the house. ” When they left the building, Aiden opened his umbrella and started walking. After a few steps, he stopped. “Are you coming?” “I can manage.” “Yeah, I see. ” He said, gesturing to the rain that was already soaking you. You ended up walking under the umbrella with him. In silence. For the first time in months. “You know what the worst part is?” he said suddenly. “What? ” Aiden glanced at you. “That when I met you, I thought you’d be a normal person.” “And I thought you’d be nice. ” A smile appeared on his lips. “I guess we were both wrong. ” You tried to hide yours, but it was too late. He saw it. And for the first time since they met… neither of them felt like arguing.
